I've let my mare's mane grow because I hate pulling manes and because I tend to like long manes. But now I can't decide whether to just even it up or to actually pull it short to show off her neck.

I'm not showing or anything so that's not an issue. And I know it's a matter of what I like but I can't decide what I'd like better. So I'll ask for opinions. Do you think she'd look better with a neatly leveled long mane or a pulled short mane? She does have a pretty neck...

Exhibit A - the long and somewhat ragged mane. If I leave it, I'll be leveling it off neatly.

Exhibit B - the pretty neck (modeled on a dozing pony). :)

You can't beat a nice neat short pulled mane in my opinion. But at the end of the day it's your horse and your decision!

Oooh, I'd hog it!! She does indeed have a lovely neck. The shorter the better for me and my manes, leave the tail nice and long to make up for it though!

Another vote for short here! Unless the horse is an M&M then I am a 'short mane and tidy hunter length tail' type person! If she is sensitive to having you pull it then you could try a solo comb or similar. Done carefully they don't look cut and it gives you a tidy mane and happy horse!
