Hi all, am in need of a little bit of help. Ive just ordered a new shed for tack etc, will be putting two saddles in there, want to save space and find a free standing saddle rack that with take two saddles but not blow the bank. Any ideas?

Lol I have just been looking! Loads of options in the USA, not so much available over here, I have just asked a couple of carpenter friends about knocking up something like this

Though I'd be quite happy to just have a couple of broom handles to hold the saddles up on!
Only options over here have been the stubbs 3 saddle trolley or their booty but I'm trying to save on floor space the latter doesn't help and I don't have 3 saddles :p.

I made my own. It's similar to the one above but it is twice as long and only one story. I have two of them.

yeah, thats what ive been finding - lots in the usa but not here :( I had a similar idea about asking a friend - our neighbour is brilliant with this kind of thing. Just wondered if there was something I was missing! I found a brilliant trolley type thing, but its so expensive, all I want is a simple saddle rack for two saddles. To be fair, we could use the standard free standing saddle racks x2 im just thinking about maximising the space we have.

I spent ages and ages looking and in the end got a nearby joiner to make one. I gave him a stack of pictures and left him to it. I can't remember what he charged me - I think it was about £180? And for that I got something that was exactly the size and spec I wanted.

If you get one of the tall three legged stands and one of the short ones, you can stack them over one another with saddles on. This is what I do at the moment.

Gods, I wont be paying that amount! All I need is something very simple - basically an upright pole with two sticky out bits... honestly people - I think we have found a niche in the market!! I suppose the other alternative is to wait until said shed arrives and look into the possibility of putting the racks on the wall before I make my final decision

I did wonder about that but as both have 3 legs presume you can't slide the lower one out without having to lift the bigger stand out of the way?

Yes, you do have to shift things about. It's not the perfect solution but does save some space.
So annoying that America has sooo many good horsey things and we have just a few items repeated everywhere!

I make them but they are a lot more than £180. that's a good price :)

to be fair, it depends what you want... Im not into some super wizz carpentry piece that would look good in an exhibition... I would like a straight upright pole with a couple of arms... hardly a masterpiece and an hr or two at most to knock up... hardly that kind of price... Im all about something doing its job, aesthetics dont bother me :)

bloody perfect!! Just what I was looking for thank you!!

You're welcome :) the bottom bar is a bit close to the ground and girth straps brush the floor in our pony dressage saddle but it's solid enough and for two saddles you wouldn't have a problem. They also do hook over the door ones with two arms, don't know if that would be useful? I was looking for a mobile four saddle rack and like everyone says, in U.S. There's plenty of choice, in UK I found very few and all quite expensive.

No its absolutely ideal... there will only be two saddles so we wont need the bottom bar. :D I had seen the hook over ones, unfortunately I just dont know if its going to be possible to use one of those. I will have to wait and see when when the shed arrives as I dont know whether there will be anywhere to fix it hence the free standing search:

Ah sorry I had found that one and didn't realise it would do for you :) I can see me bashing my head on the top pole in the flat ;).
