Stroking Teddy and felt a lump on his tummy so started to investigate assuming it was yet another tick. Turns out it's actually one of his nipples that has swollen and is red around it. Vets can see him tomorrow.

Please tell me this is just him getting into a scrap and knocking it and nothing awful like cancer.

My spaniel suddenly came up with a real lump at her nipple last year. Vets checked and assured me it's just a blocked duct, it's never gone away but she's not hugely bothered by it so I've just been left to monitor

I’ve been poking and prodding him and he isn’t bothered in the slightest so I’m glad he’s at least not uncomfortable. I’m also 99% sure this has appeared today as he gets a thorough look over every day due to his tendency to pick up ticks/get in fights. So whatever it is, I’ve caught it quickly.

He’s my baby. This, plus Granny’s heart attack plus pony deciding to escape her field and wander down the main road at 5am this morning is too much. Baby is at least behaving herself. Is it bed time yet?

If he was tussling and another cat got in a little bunny-kicking on his undercarriage it could very well have annoyed his poor little nip! He could have scratched it himself, maybe the grass pollen is making him a bit itchy, maybe it's the heat. Could be 2 dozen things you don't need to worry about but sure, a vet consult fee is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

My prediction: 80% chance you won't be able to find it tomorrow to even show the vet, other 19.999% chance the vet takes a look and thinks your mad for worrying ?

Much like the time I took him in because I was convinced he had broken his leg and the vet had to tell me he actually had a very small scratch from a fight. In my defense he came in hobbling and immediately hid behind the sofa and hissed at me when I tried to get close and this is the cat that sits on my lap whilst I wee and wakes me up in the morning by suckling my ear so I was convinced it was something dire. So I blame Teddy for that episode of overdramatics.

?? Sounds like a very badly bruised ego! The most painful of feline injuries ?

We had Marnie at the vet within 3 days of bringing her home, I was convinced she was in liver failure or had a terminal brain tumor because she was twitching in her sleep (too much internet). Vet looked at her for 5 minutes, diagnosis: Mild stress. She still does it if we leave the window open and she sniffs another cat. She probably would just pass away if we made her go outside!!
