I have a leather tree Iberian saddle on trial this week for Hermosa. At the time of this writing, I've ridden in it three times -- and today was almost a 2 hour hack -- and I'm feeling pretty positive about it. She seems to be opening up her stride, and it doesn't bloody move anywhere, which is a win.

The saddle pads I own aren't quite right for it. Hermosa would prefer ones with a high wither shape and either cushy wool or felt on her side of it. I would prefer bright colours and not spending ££££££ on a bloody saddle pad, though I'm feeling like I may have to resign myself to the latter.

I've found a few things online, and my friend in Germany has found others, but you'd have to import them from bloody Germany, which isn't cheap.

I was wondering what the HHO collective could find.

Here's a couple pics of the saddle. You can see how the pad I'm using doesn't quite fit under it.

Shires do a full wool lined saddle pad for not much ££ if you can find any online - I have several and they wash great. I think its prob fake wool but my very spendy gelding never worked that out

I used the Nuumed half-wool hi-wither on my old share horse. Not cheap but good quality.

(If you'd be interested in GP cut ones, I've got brand new ones in bottle green and burgundy for sale! Share horse retired before I could use them, and they don't fit my own horse's saddle.)

The Mattes ones look lovely. I was eyeing them online.

My (German) friend loves Grandeur pads, but they are not so easy to get here. I can't find many. I know they also cost your first born child.

Nuumed are a bit cheaper. And Shires look fine.

You can see the saddle in the OP photos. I'm unsure if a GP one would fit it.

Wool fleece will always be cheaper, it doesn't have the same qualities/performance as sheepskin, nor will a synthetic equivalent. With Nuumed just watch out for hard pads forming at the back, the hair works its way through the knitted backing and builds up in a lump, you must unstitch and remove it if you want to keep using it; the pads hold up so it is worth it.

No help on the saddle pads, i'm an eskadron girl and rate their cotton pads but not sure the gp will be straight enough and if the dressage would be too straight. If you find pads that fit you could always try the eskadron sheepskin underlay, its not a half pad so none of the bulk, just the sheepskin and wool part.
i have one and its really good as goes under any saddle cloth, not had it move and is cheaper than buying lots of saddle cloths.
