Hello all,
I have all sorts of worries in my life, quite probably so do you, but there is this one, extremely annoying thing I thought you could help me with.
Believe me, no matter how trivial it might seem to you, solving this mystery would be a great relief to my miserable existence.
So, here is the question:
Is there any magical (or otherwise) way of putting a Polypad on, which would stop it magically (how else?;p) sliding from underneath the saddle as I ride?

Thank you in anticipation of great tips :D

I make sure it is lifted up, as in, so it is sitting high in the gullet of the saddle at both ends.

:D

Yes!

Make sure that the front is very "forward" so that the saddle sits on the edge of the soft bit at the back then pull well into the gullet. It will slip back a bit but not as much as when you have it in the "normal" position with the saddle in the middle of the pad.

Hey presto you don't have to take the dogs for a walk along the same track you have just ridden down to pick it up! :)

I used to have a pad that had charcoal in the middle and the saddle never ever moved but I can't remember the name of it.! It was cut in the shape of the saddle and was sort or rubbery. Came in a couple of thicknesses. I bought it at Burghley about 10 years ago lol.:)

Well, well, well, very creative :D
I must be doing something terribly wrong, because even if I put it far in front and stuff into the gullet... it still slides (I tell you 'tis magic) backwards, if not as a whole, the front corners ride back and upwards and it all looks a mess. It does absolutely nothing positive for my image, you see...
Redcascade - sewing??? that would be nearly housework, wouldn't it? Go and wash your mouth, such horrible words :D:D:D

Hmmm, this mystery is right up there with knicker-eating bums. When you solve it, market it!!

;)

Thats an easy one to solve... Stop wearing knickers!

...Start wearing shorts instead!

Can someone solve the bra strap slipping down one for me? They are wide and adjusted pretty tight but I still have to keep groping about in my sleeve to pull it back up again. Always seems to be the left one as well...

:D I apologise profusely! *grabs some soap* :p Any willing mothers, inlaws or friends handy with one of those pointy or whirry things? ;)
Hmmm, I suppose I could try some poor beggar... But then, it would become a polypad with girth straps. I'm sure I've seen people with a regular one perfectly placed without any housework induced improvements:confused:

:D:D:D

Pah, that's easy - a sports bra with straps joined at the back of you neck. Admittedly, I have seen prettier things, but it's either that or black eyes...

I use a normal numnah and half pad instead. My saddler said this is the same as using a polypad and it means I don't have to worry about it slipping. Also, it means I have a lot more choice when buying numnahs! :)

Send it here hun, I'll sew some straps on for you :D (I can't knit, but I can sew :D).

Maybe pen a letter to Polypad to 'raise their awareness'? Offer to trial any new designs :D

Failing all of the above, superglue it to either the horse (bad), or the saddle - it'll save a bit on cleaning :D :D :D

Wher is one supposed to stick that one? :D

Well really you need bubble gum! First blow a large bubble and stick to under side of polypad, then blow a long thin bubble and stick to inside of gullet. Assemble polypad into gullet of saddle and then place the whole lot firmly in the correct position on the horse - no chance to adjust it.

Don't ask me when you want to remove it from the horse though.:D

oh that's easy!! start doing press ups! it also solves the runaway beasty problem too! ;)

the knicker-eating bottom tho is an incurable mystery!

the upwards creeping t-shirt is the mystery from which I most suffer. the choice of OSBH makes no difference, and indeed the "sports" style OSBH seems to make the problem worse, so i have to make a decision between black eyes or flashing the OSBH at all passers by! :D

I gave up with my Polypad years ago, I was sick of tacking up, girthing only to find that the polypad was lopsided baaaah! Sooo iritating hmmph.

It makes a lovely dog bed though ;) Now I use an ordinary dressage cloth and a Christ sheepskin pad.

Ditto !! WHY is it always the left strap that disappears !!!

As for the polypad problem, how about putting a thin "non slip" sheet in between it and the horse to stop it slipping ??

Put it in the freezer ;) ?? gum goes hard, easy to peel off...... Haveto be a BIG freezer though !! ROFL

Actually I forgot to mention that my rather expensive polypad is currently acting as cat-bed. He found the sneaky route into the shed (glass-less window backing onto a wall) and I suspected when I saw grey fluff on it. Suspicions confirmed when he didn't come in for brekkie and I found the little sod flat out, catching Zs. Bless im. He has no problem with the polypad slipping or knicker-eating bum. Don't know about bra straps, I'll ask him later.

Also have the same prob with poly pads, don't bother with them now as they drive me insane!!! No matter what I did then slid during a ride, use nice high wither saddle cloths now with straps on, much better!
