Can anyone suggest ways in which I can trace the brand mark on my pony? She has two brands which are both the same. One on her near side shoulder and one under the saddle area - also on the near side. The brand looks like a 'W' but turned on it's side so that it resembles the number 3 with straight lines. I have tried really hard to trace this brand with no luck - I have contacted various breed societies but they have been unable to help. She is a gorgeous little 13hh dark bay mare who resembles an exmoor/dartmoor. Any suggestions would be really grateful. noos888

or is there a possibility she could be a Lundy Pony? we have one with freezemark then under her saddle is an branded "L" and another brandmark...........

No luck with the New Forest Breed Society. Also tried the Exmoor and the Dartmoor breed societies. Someone suggested it was just a farmers brand but who knows how I could trace that!!!!!!

Must admit I hadn't thought of her being a lundy pony but having checked their website there is a possibility. I will contact them and ask about their brands. Thanks for the suggestion

Hello ! I am a new forum member and this is my first post! I have lurked for a while though and am a member of a couple of other forums!

I would say that your pony's brand is most likely a New Forest one, I have a NF brand book (a little out of date admittedly) and from the description you gave (W on its side)it would appear to be brand number 127, which was registered to a C. White. I can't post an address on here, but I reckon if you contact the New forest Pony Breeding Society on 01425 672775 or e-mail on forestpony@enterprise.net they may be able to help you armed with a little more information. Good luck !

Thanks for the info. I've already contacted the NF Breed Society but I will try again. I'm determined to find out more about her.
