I felt sorry for the poor horse and my hands lost all co-ordination and my brain started to fryOtto now runs from me when I tell him it's practice Travers time!!
I feel your pain :-D I felt the same yesterday in my lesson when we working on half pass, each limb has to do something different, certainly tests coordination.
Half steps advice on riding a 10m circle and then asking for travers is very useful, I like to do this in the corner ask for travers and then a 10m circle at E/B and then ask for shoulder in.
To help with bend for travers I found useful in my lesson to ask for shoulder in going across the diagonal so the horse isn't locking onto the fence line, work on travers on the 3/4 line again to stop them locking onto the fence and then you can build upto half pass. As others have mentioned, I ask for 1-2 strides of shoulder in on the centre line, position the shoulders and then ask for travers.
