I pull at least five ticks off my horse a day and not only is it bad for her to have ll these blood suckers, its disgusting and unsightly as she swells up whereve she has a tick. Does anyone know a way to prevent or repel ticks?

I use 'Frontline' We have a problem in late spring and late summertime they seem to disappear for the rest of the year. Frontline won't stop them altogether but it stops them setting deep in the mane.

Been using this:

http://www.equinehealthuk.com/power-phaser-fly-spray-317.phtml

"Power Phaser's strong defensive shield is activated particularly well when your horse sweats during strenuous work. Protects reliably against horseflies, ticks, and all biting and non-biting flies"

Noticed although it does not completly stop ticks it drastically reduces the numbers attaching themselves. Would love to know if there is anything better out there. (Neurotic owner fretting about Lymes Disease.)

Thank you so much!

I read that making a lavender spray will keep ticks off. Has anyone heard of this before? If so, how much lavender do you mix with water?
