HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

[ QUOTE ]
Yup - it usually gets Gercha eliminating!

[/ QUOTE ]Right - will feed before I take them to the yard then!!
grin.gif

And then hope they aren't sick in the car!

I am sorry to say I think you might have to talk to your OH about the castration thing again. It does sound behavioural to me, especially as he wasn't doing it before you got Finn. Was he in a crate before you got Finn? Lurcher/greyhound types need a lot of padding and somewhere extra comfy to sleep. If he was used to sleeping on the sofa and is now in a crate he might be restless as he just isn't comfy enough.

[/ QUOTE ]LOL- they are good travellers - buT I'm going to feed them when I get to the yard, instead of before we travel!!

(Although it is only 2mins away!!)

[/ QUOTE ]Sooty there is no talking to do - it's not going to happen.

[/ QUOTE ]He did do it before we got Finn, yes he was in a crate 90% of the time, the odd occasion he was allowed to stay out he 'messed' so was back in his cage.

He has always only slept on towels as he shreds them - so he hasn't really ever had a 'comfy' space as he trashes it before he gets to sleep on it - hence the polypad which has been fine since christmad - but he has decided to pull stuffing out of half - so he is on a half filed polypad!!

I think you should stop clearing up any of Tinks's mess until your OH is prepared to discuss the matter with you. Either that, or take the dog to the vet yourself... Or give him an ultimatum - the dog's bollox, or you!

[/ QUOTE ]Did that!! - Got done for a while now left for me again!! It'll only cause a row!!

[/ QUOTE ]Erm NO WAY... he's not my dog to decide on... OH has said no so no!!

[/ QUOTE ]Honey - I'm afraid if that was the case - it'd be the dig's bollox or me as I live in HIS house!!!

Another thought - Tinks is not a fat dog, but he does eat a lot. Three meals a day is unusual for an adult dog. Why not try giving him just two? He may just be getting too much food and it is going straight through him. If he loses weight you could increase the size of each meal, but it might be worth leaving the morning and evening meal as it is and just cutting out the lunch time one. Hard to know if it is a behavioural, hormonal or feeding issue, and feeding is the easiest to play around with.

Agree with sooty 3 meals a day sounds rather alot, I only feed mine once a day, at t time.......I would suggest feeding him once a day in the morning......if the problem is as bad as u say...........Have u thought of fitting a dog flap to give him the optin of going outside......Although I dont think it would do much good cos it sounds like anxiety to me esp as he is destructive along with the messing.

Obviously u know what I would also suggest but I think that option has been worn out
grin.gif

Do u only leave him in the cage at bedtime?
or does he have an everyday routine in the cage and bed time or sometimes in sometimes out.

[/ QUOTE ]The reason we give Tinks 3 feeds is because Finn has 3 feeds.... we have split his amounts over 3 meals... we deemed it unfair to feed one without the other - equally the whole 'dominance' thing of feeding - we wanted Finn to see that Tinks was lways feed before him etc.

I am going to change both dogs onto 2 meals a day soon - Finn has just passed the 6month marker so he can go onto 2 meals me thinks

[/ QUOTE ]The feeding 3 times a day doesn't mean he is getting 3 x the amount of food that he has ever had - he just gets it in smaller meals.... will give the feeding twice a day a go - bringing the evening meal further forward to 5ish when I go to get them before I head off to the yard.
[ QUOTE ]
Have u thought of fitting a dog flap to give him the optin of going outside......

[/ QUOTE ]He does not have free roam of the house due to the messing - so a dog flap would be of no use - PLUS OH would not have one as he would deem it a security risk!!!
[ QUOTE ]
Although I dont think it would do much good cos it sounds like anxiety to me esp as he is destructive along with the messing.

[/ QUOTE ]He doesn't do both at the same time - it's generally one or other - and TBH the destruction will occur in the day if any.

[/ QUOTE ]It has indeed and it isn't an option!!!

[/ QUOTE ]No - basically they are in their cages overnight (everynight) are let out a 6am and then fed in them at 7am and are in them until 1am when I go home at lunch... are let out for 20mins, then fed in them again and shut in til 5pm.. however if the weather is nice they are in the garden for free roam whilst we are at work.

At 5pm they are let out and come to the yard with me until 7pm... they then have free run of house til 10.30-11pm.

At weekends/holidays - they are with us or have free run of the house (never alone though!!)

I did guess that the 3 meals where just the amount of one meal split into 3
tongue.gif
tongue.gif
however it is still 3 lots of potential bowel movements

Try him on the new meal regime if it does not wok I would defo try one meal at breakfast and no more.......even if u feel bad when finn eats, put tinks out side so he cant see the deed

Have u tried maybe putting a kong in to keep him occupied whilst he is in the cage or maybe 3 kongs LOL

[/ QUOTE ]Agreed, it was the 'rather alot' comment that made me wonder if you understood how MUCH food he's getting!!

[/ QUOTE ]The reason it was split to 3 was (as said abouve) the dominance thing - so Finn could see Tinks fed before him each time... but now I guess it's established... I could put him out.

[/ QUOTE ]He has toys/bones etc!!! He's just not overly interested!!

Failing all of that u could try and kennel him......or get a plastic crate that is completley enclosed so he cant shoot his P*ss out through the bars
grin.gif
and have OH scrub it out every day
wink.gif
tongue.gif

Toys and bones probably become the norm the him, however a lovely cheese filled Kong that he finds impossible to empty and only given when he is in the cage.....that may be more tempting.

[/ QUOTE ]That sounds like a good idea!!

OH has said - oh well he'll have to go outside - but he has also said if Tinks goes Finn goes... I don't see why Finner should have to go outside because of Tinks!!

[/ QUOTE ]True - May purchase one for both of them!!

If you're going to line the outside of the cage and try and create splash back/noise to stop him peeing out then get hold of "Coroplast" (corrugated plastic) as it's sturdy, hygenic and easily modeable..I "hear" election signs are made from it
tongue.gif
smirk.gif

without offending you KJFIT it sounds to me like your OH is slightly taking advantage. If tinks is HIS dog and is making the mess HE should be cleaning it up EVERY time if hes so adamant you can't get him done.. He'd soon come round I suspect

[/ QUOTE ]No offence taken - I have taken on responsibility of the dogs - I leave the mess if he is around for him to clear up.. however I can't leave it if he is not around....

However taken on responsibility of the dogs does not mean I can make a decision re the future of the dogs bollox!! LOL!! Well I can with my dog - just not his!!

Get 2 - shove "face" sides in towards eachother in sandwich type thing, nice white/green/red etc. Coroplast......don't ask me how I know
smirk.gif

I'd be inclined to say he's messing over night so OH is to get up and clean before work etc... if hes not willing to compromise.

I agree though, at the end of the day, its not your dog to make a decision on
frown.gif

It just puts you in an awkward position.

[/ QUOTE ]To be fair to him he does if he see's it - however sometimes he's down the stairs and straight out the door - then I let dogs out 5mins later....

HOWEVER a few weeks ago it got to the point where it was happening everynight - I told OH and said he needed to clear up after his dog - which he didn't so - YES it is GROSS and horrid - but I left the poo in there - I'm afraid by the time OH got there to do it there was 3 nights worth - I felt awful but it proved my point!!!!
