Hi all!

My name is Karen, I am from Germany and will move to England with my horse. I will move to a place near Bristol and wanted to ask if anyone can recommend a good livery yard? It can be near Bath or Bristol.

I would like my horse to live in a big stable, best with a little yard attached, so it can walk in and out whenever it wants to. I am not sure if there are those kind of yards in England?

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you so much!

Hi Karen,

You probably won't find that kind of setup around Bristol or Bath - it's not normal in the UK and I can't think of anywhere in that area which does it, but I agree it is nice!

What sort of livery are you looking for? Any must have facilities? And where are you going to be living - that will make a big difference to where you want to keep the horse - it can take over an hour to get from Bristol to Bath in the car in rush hour. Even one side of Bristol to the other is awful, and I wouldn't do it!

Hi!
Thank you for your reply. At the beginning I will live in a place called Chippenham but will move eventually to live closer to Bristol, where I will work.

The yard I am looking for should have a riding area, best would be a riding area with a roof ( I don´t know the english word for that:confused:)
Also the horses should be turned out daily, on the meadow, and on the paddocks during winter.

In Germany a lot of livery yards offer a stable called "Paddockbox", where the horse can walk in and out. But if it is hard to find an airy, large stable will do!

Hi Karen,

I moved over from Germany 8 years ago (with my horses), lived in Bath for 4 years. I know what kind of stable you mean - but they don't exist here (as far as I know), but most yards do turn out either several times a week or even daily.

I was at a yard just outside Bath and loved it, sadly I moved away over 3 years ago but still go back to visit. They are lovely, knowledgeable people. And the horses do go out in the field every day.
Henly Tyning Livery yard. Let me know if you need a number/email address, I'll PM you :)

Hope that helps! Liebe Gruesse

They do have yards like you mean in the UK, lots of Stallion yards do this, as do the racing, and moving down that way means there are quite a few racing yards so try checking them out first a lot would welcome liveries actually so worth a try. Lots have schools now and the bonus of having horse walkers, solariums and gallops for fitness work! Good luck if you struggle I know of a very nice yard that comes with a 2 bed house for rent near Newmarket! (Essex/Suffolk/Cambridge borders)

@stute 282: Thank you for your help! I had a look at their website and it looks quite nice! Viele Grüße:)

@KMDSTUD: Thanks! I will have a look at some stallion yards and racing yards then:)

If anyone has another advice and knows a good stable in that area, please let me know. Thanks!!!
