Hi there,

So we are in the final stages of our house buying venture!!!! Very excited, but now need recommendations from you lovely people for the following, we will be in between Boston and Sleaford:

Muck heap removal- do you ask a friendly farmer, or are there any companies that offer muck removal?

Good farriers- I have a typical Tb and also a very nervous Arab so need a kind, confident and Good farrier. No natural balance please.

Vets? Who are nice vets and a reasonable cost?

Hay suppliers, that will deliver in bulk.

Bedding- shavings or wood pellets at a good price, delivered in bulk.

Where are any good tack shops?

And hacking and competing in this area?

Does anyone know any house sitters as well?

Thanks in advance, sorry for the mass of questions!

Muck removal is possible but you have to pay for it
Good farriers are usually fully booked so you may have to get into a yard or compete locally for word of mouth recommendation.
Best Vets are Oakham veterinary Hospital so you will need transport but they do come out at reasonable rates but again local to your area is best word of mouth
Hay there are a lot of Farmers making hay in this area some will deliver it usually about £3.00 a bale or there abouts
Snowflake shavings are or were in Boston so local
Robinsons is the best saddler at Billinghay but there are a few at Louth and mobile ones up here near Market Rasen
Lindsey ride covers miles of roads and tracks but you need transport to get to it again up this way Competition venues all round Sheepgate for Dressage and shows, Hill house for just about everything, Arena uk for BSJ and championship shows, Willow banks is a newish venue for jumping soon to do dressage I believe, and every hunt does x country and hunter trials with many also doing one day events so a lot to do you could be out doing something every week but you need transport
House sitters are probably best done by reputation and word of mouth too. We are a friendly lot in Lincolnshire so welcome and enjoy getting to know us all

Welcome to Lincolnshire. For vets we use Tower Equine (Roger Lee) who cover your area as well and are excellent.

Don't think my farrier goes as far as you so can't help there. Heckington Supplies in Heckington used to do horse feed so worth a look there. Probably they can put you in touch with hay supplier if you ask them. W&R has covered everything else. Hope you get everything sorted.

Congratulations on the house purchase. Hope you will be very happy in you new home.
