I have two fields next to my house, one 2acre and one 3acre. When I first got a horse 3years ago, the grass was thick, green and very deep. However, it is now non existant!! I want it to be back how it was for this summer!

2acre field; 1/2 deep, thick mud which is about my ankle deep and very sludgy. Hardly any grass. 3months worth of poo in there (from 2horses) as I am at Uni in a different country with my 3rd horse and my sister is too busy with school and dancing to pick up poo, plus it gets dark at like 4. I have picked up around 1/2 of it since being on 'holiday'!

3acre field; They just moved into it today. A corner is very muddy (sectioned off with electric fencing) but there is about 2acres of grass. A bit of poo but not too much, will pick it all up tomorrow.

I have;
A quadbike which can tow along a roller, harrowing rake, fertiliser and grass seed dispenser.

So what do I need to do and at what part of the year? Do I need any more equiptment?

ANY HELP would be sooo appreciated

if i were you!, I would go on livery some where untill the spring at least, then in march/april harrow the land then roll (when the land in soft but not too hard). wait for some warm weather reseed the land with grass seed and fertiliser. Thats what i have had to do with my land I have...

We had the same last year - by November it was a mud bath - so this year have separated 5 acre field into 3 parts and they are steadily muddying up the first part, and then open up more bits as each month progresses. We also put down near the gates bark froma local tree surgeon that wants to off-load his tree chippings for free!! this helps too.
