Ive just entered my first show. its a foreign breeds class both in hand and ridden with my Haffie. What do i have to wear and what do i have to do from when i arrive? as i really dont want to look like an idiot.

It says entry fees on the day so do i have to send in the entry form and pay on the day or do i wait until the day to send in the form?

Fill out your form and take it along with you and pay on the day. I don't know alot about Haffies but a couple of people in the local RC have them and they seem to turn out like mountain and moorlands you = tweed jacket, shirt and tie, cream or buff jods, long leather boots, although boots and gaiters fine for adults at local level, showing cane, brown gloves, hairnet, Pony = workmanlike bridle, brown tack is more correct, but again , for local go with what you've got as long as it's clean and tidy it won't matter, mane and tail left natural - oh and BTW HAVE FUN!!!

couldnt have put it better myself lol ^^^

Thanks for that.

Next question. What do i have to do in the ring with first of all in hand and then ridden.

I only have black tack so is this ok also what bits as i have her in a fulmer snaffle. her bridle has a flash strap so will i neeed to take the flash strap off

Use the tack she's happiest in - no point in trying to change bits bridles etc on a showday - I learnt that from experience LOL! If you can beg or borrow a flat cavesson noseband it will look better, especially for inhand.
The steward will tell you when to enter the ring, walk in and start going around on the left rein - same applies to inhand and ridden - for inhand, the steward will stop you on a corner for your first trot, wait until your pony is walking nice and forward and balanced before asking for trot, then trot around to the back of the line of ponies, don't stop abruptley either, you need to portray a nice balanced picture! once everyone has trotted you will be called into line, then you come out for your individual, walk out to the judge facing the way you are going to walk off, stand your pony up nicely, no trailing or resting of legs, once the judge has asked you walk off smartly, use all the room you have got, then turn your pony AWAY from you, once balanced ask for trot and trot straight at the judge -don't worry they'll move!! then keep going around to the back of the line up and into your place. After everyone has done that you will often be asked to walk around while placings are decided. Also if you have time, change into smart trousers for your inhand class - nothing looks worse in and inhand class than jods and riding boots!!
Ridden you will be aske to walk trot and canter around together on both reins, before the pull in and individual, for your individual show keep it short and sweet, nothing is more boring and off putting for a judge than someone going around in endless circles!! a figure of 8 show with an extension in the 2nd canter is the norm. (don't extend down a slope either!!) Go along to some shows and watch if you can, you'll learn loads!
