HELP! My Haflinger's microchip doesn't match her passport!

So Merel, clearly isn't Merel!

I know this happened to someone on here...can't remember who it was..

The passport I have is for the KVTH and the microchip number isn't that different.

I am going to email KVTH today to see what I need to do.

Any advice?

I experienced this with my haflinger 3years ago, i emailed them saying the same as you, basically they asked for all the details on the passport and told me it didnt match the stud book altho it was a KVTH passport and to return it too them. Its shocking how many fall through with the passports but i guess they are rather all alike. I had my vet out and just got my boy a Pet ID passport and had his name to what i changed it too, the KVTH passport name was Birdie, poor horsey !!

I have emailed the KVTH, hopefully they can get back to me promptly. My vet seemed to think it should be quite normal for them to issue a duplicate passport - I guess they would need proof of ID but surely that would be the microchip.

It also means that the real 'Merel' is out there somewhere with the wrong details which is a real shame as we have been in contact with the breeder and have pictures of her parents and her as a foal. Unfortunately they didn't have any adult pics of her which might've made us twig sooner!

It is worrying as I would've presumed that the microchips would've been matched up to the passports on entry into the UK - it's interesting that there is no visa stamp in the passport. I suppose the passports may have become mixedup once the animals were distributed in the UK.

Thanks for the advice and please keep your fingers crossed, I was planning on showing her as a regsitered Haffie so need the genuine paperwork, I would also love to know her real history.
 
Good friend of mine had this happen recently. She bought two Fjords, from different places. No vettings, so chip not scanned. Got home and my hubby scanned them for her. One mare, supposedly 7, is 15 and was supposedly put down due to severe liver damage.

Well she is chipped with a KVTH microchip which means she is registered with them - she is a stunning horse with fantastic paces and attitude so I highly doubt she was bred for meat.

I just hope she doesn't turn out to be stolen.....

Hopefully it's not quite that bad - if anything she is likely to be younger than we thought but not by much - luckily we haven't backed her yet as we were letting her 'grow up'(as you should do with all Haffies).
 
Haflingers or Avelignesi are culled if they dont reach the breed standard.I have had a couple in to break who were born with red hairs in their tails so are not acceptable for the stud book. They are either sold on with false docs (more dosh) or are fattened for the butcher.

Sad to say but imo the majority of dealer bought Haflingers are the so called refuse of the elite Italian market

This boy (Furbo) was destined for the butchers as his colouring was too faded and his tail was a dirty reddish colour to be accepted by the breed standard.
