Help - my horse is trying to kill me!

2 weeks ago she bucked me off. Yesterday she bit me when changing her rug and nearly had my thumb off. Today when I was bringing her down the field to come in she reared and pulled the lead rope out of my hands to get to her friends. She gets plenty of turnout and only gets hifi and a handful of pony nuts and hay. Only thing is I've not been riding much due to the weather (ice and freezing fog here). What's going on with her? Is anyone else's horse behaving badly just now?
 
I would lead her in her bridle for the time being so you have some change of stopping her running off to her friends again and do some groundwork training so she learns to respect you.
 
To be honest I think she just misbehaved in the field tonight because she was starving as everything here is frozen and she thought the others were going to get in before her. It was definitely a tantrum. As soon as she was out the gate and being led up to the farm (leaving her friends in the field) she was fine. I really don't think she's sore, just very stroppy! We shall see what happens when I ride her tomorrow (though maybe I'll lunge first just in case as I'd prefer not to miss Xmas!)
 
If she keeps pulling away from you try leading her in a chiffney for a while. The other things are a bit more tricky to crack! Hopefully it will all settle down when she is doing more work again
 
The three I turn out every morning are raving lunatics at the moment, so think it could also be down to the cold weather? Mine ridden is being very highly strung and ok he's a tb but normally a lazy one at times? If I miss more than two days riding he is an idiot so perhaps more ridden work weather permitting). good luck
 
Maybe she's hungry if there's nothing to eat in the field - do you hay them in the field?
If not, bring her in and leave her with a section of hay for 1/2 hour til you handle her...she'll be much calmer....and for riding too.
Whilst catching her, wear hat, gloves, carry a short whip and either use a control headcollar/bridle/chifney...and lead with a lunge line so you have a bit more escape room.

Having just read Christiamas's post on the aggressive youngster - I have changed my mind - mine is not trying to kill me, she's just a bit bolshy. Tia's livery youngster on the other hand is in a different league and does appear to be actually trying to kill her. Makes mine seem like a puddy-cat!
