Help! My M and M's tail has been cut, how best to make good?

I've a little Welsh A, which we have sporadically shown, and he has done quite well. I was about to start my youngest on lead rein M and M, but somebody at the livery yard has taken it upon themselves to cut his beautiful tail! It is now below his hocks and straight across.
So cross, but how best to grow and/or make it look natural. Will a judge really keel over in horror at it? Have spent three years looking after it. Everyone denies touching it of course.
 
When I had a 12h Welsh A he did SHP, cradle and M&M so assume his was cut! I would have thought all you can do is let it grow!
 
Cant help with growing it, but I used to show my welsh D county level and had it cut straight accross only a couple of inches below the hocks.
Asside from that I would be going absolutly wild knowing someone at the yard did that to my horse!
 
Oh thanks guys, I'm feeling a lot better now. I'd just been told they must be natural. We'll be doing BSPS type things. So might not be a disaster!!

We let a girl ride her last week, and I assume she thought she'd make him look smart, but nobody will own up.
 
you could borrow a sheep to chew the end a little to make it look less cut..... although you probably have more sensible suggestions!!

If its the fact that its now straight across (banged) that bothers you (I admit that don't normally see M&Ms with banged tails), could you be a bit creative with one of those mane and tail rakes.

If you raked the sides very near the bottom (just do it v gradually) you might get a more tapered bottom rather than straight across.

Feel free to ignore me if you think its been messed up enough already though!!

You can think it into a more natural shape - if you are doing M&M classes then it must not be banged. If you are doing plaited classes, then leave it as it is.
