I really need a bit of advice please I purchased a yearling and I wanted him to join my gelding and a mare that I have currently, the mare and gelding have been together for nearly 2 yrs my gelding follows her around like she's "mum" .although he also can be quite bossy to her so I thought that I should turn yearling out first with him which went really well,I gave them a while to settle down and everything was great, then I turned the mare out all I can say is I have never seen her behave like that! She was livid about the yearling being in field and anywhere near "her"gelding and chased him away and was watching yearling the whole time to make sure he didn't come over, every time the gelding went to chat the mare forced her way between them and drove him off again, then the gelding strarted grabbing yearling by the neck and chasing him swell,so in the end I took mare out,but she is freaking out now as she is divoted to gelding. The mare is on loan so I could send her back but I don't want to as I feel she is important for the gelding as he doesn't seem to be able to think for himself lol he relied on her to lead him to the hay (they are on a track system)and I wanted them to behave as a herd, also she would be company for yearling when I'm riding gelding.should I remove gelding and try again just putting mare and yearling together first help please I've been worrying all night about it
