I got a new "project horse" about a month ago, 15.1hh 8 yo bright bay gelding, Stable name Jay

After much work, I plan to use him for Showjumping, Hunter trials, and poss a few ODE's

however he needs a showname

I have the imagination of a block of wood

Any of you lot got any idea's ?

Dosent have to involve his stable name, just anything you think is catchy and nice for him

'Liftoff' - that is one impressive rear!

I was going to say OhShit!!

Sorry I am not being positive I cant cope with rearing.

Darth Vader before I saw the photo I was going to suggest Dave so Dave Vader might work.

I am clueless as to why the rearing picture was included.

Names of Sire/Dam?

Im not really sure as to his breeding, doubt he's come from anything special TBH, he is just passported as "Jay"

added the rearing pic, to give an idea of his personality, to see if anyone came up with any quirky names (like lift off) which I really like

I like vertigo

My friend suggested Oblivion, yano like the ride that blasts you up into the air at some rediculous speed

what do people think to Oblivion? x

When he gets REALLY over excited, its not an every day occurence, think he's done it 5 times in a month

I know its dangerous, But thats a risk im prepared to take, because in my opinion he has the makings of a good horse

I am taking it easy with him at the moment, just hacking and keeping steady untill the dentist and back person can come out (Dentist is away training in america, back person booked up) and then I will take it from there

Can I just say i am fully aware of the dangers, I have been knocked clean out by a horse coming over on top of me, so I dont need people telling me possible conciquences etc, Not having a go, but just defending myself in advance, as I know sometimes images like that cause rather heated topics

Some good suggestions for naming the beat though Ta

You are braver than I am - and as you say if you know the risks and can handle it, it is your choice! I like vertigo for him! Other than the rearing - nice horse!

Erm... I'd be slightly concerned about the rearing thing

Has he always done that? Is there something that sets him off? Other than that, he looks like a wonderful little horse, just my type

I saw that rear and thought, how about "The Kamikaze Kid"? I was going to call mine that but my first choice was allowed, yay

Flying High, Concorde, flying without wings

I have to say that rear is HUGE, I suppose the ability to bring up those front legs is both his biggest asset and biggest downfall

Fleur used to rear like that, normally gave plenty of warning, and went higher each time rather than straight up. She never went over and was fairly calm when up, she was not what I called dangerous, ie flipped or went up without letting you know the explosion was coming. I could deal with this and normally could avoid it or wait it out.

She could jump the moon - hence she was shown as Vertical Limit which could have referred either to the jump or the amazing way she could stand up.

Hope he turns out well.

Hi, nice looking horse. one heck of a rear! wow! One thing i would say when thinking of a name for a project horse (i am guessing ur gonna sell on) is that calling him sonething like 'oblivion' my make a future rider think they are gonna be sent into 'oblivion' hehe! Where as going towards something that would indicate jumping etc, not insane
it is nice to name by personality though. My mare is called Drama Queenie (no prizes for guessing y!!!) and my cob was called Cutie Pie (she was cute but u could tell people were expecting a little pony to walk into the ring not a whooping great big 15.1hh heavyweight cob! hehe! some would say for the irony!

When I was trying to name my instructor's Voltaire foal, I sat down with a dictionary and went through all the entries for 'V'. We giggled about 'Vertical Takeoff' - that one sounds like it would suit your boy!

I also like Vertigo, and Oblivion is good.
