Any ideas for a name for my new horse, I am renaming her due to her current name Annie sounding like she was an orphan lol.

A name I can shorten down would be great my other horses are called Oliver - Ollie and Rosie - Rose, I would really like something elegant and classy!

Please help, I am considering Cariad welsh for love, for short Carrie, the welsh because I am Welsh.

Would love any suggestions.

Strange when I view the post it is there? Can others see the Photo or not, hmm this photobucket thingy is new to me

I can't see the picture either.

Cariad is nice, how about Petal? Although you can't really shorten that down - or Lily? - if you want to stick with the flower theme you had for Rose!

Annie is very versitile (I should now I'm an Anna) possible nick names:
Annie Apple
Ann Ban
Ans
Spanner
Spans
Spandex
Banana
Nanny

That's all I can think of at the mo!

Thanks for all of your posts!

Annie is 16.1 11 yrs Branded British Warmblood, I have just bought her and she is due for delivery to my sisters yard this week hopefully on Tuesday. She flew through her her 5 stage vetting and the vet thought her to be in perfect health (apart from obviously lacking a little weight/muscle) and the most calm, loving and adorable mare he had met to date both lunged and in stable.

Perhaps it might be bad luck to change a name, although I am not really very superstitious so hmmm what to do....

Annie will be staying on my sister yard in South Wales whilst waiting to be transported to Norway. I am looking forward to having lots of dressage lessons with one of the instructors Jade on my sisters yard within the 10 days I am over in a months time.

Hopefully Annie shall begin her journey here 2 weeks after I fly back to Norway. It is so exciting, hopefully she will be just the calm and quiet mare I need since I have become ill with Lupus (muscle disease). I look forward to next years summer show season with her, competing in dressage and if my muscles are up to it the odd clear round

I have had to adapt my riding in the past 15 riding years not to hurt myself, therefore flatwork and caveletti jumping is about it for me these days but it is far better than not to ride at all.

I was considering giving up riding and turning to driving a couple of months ago, but I can't stop riding so I shall ride Annie and drive my Welsh A Rosie.

Sadly no matter how much I love my sports horse Ollie as my illness has worsened he is just too much for me, he can be a handful and he just knows when I am having a bad day with my muscles and takes full advantage when ridden. This is dangerous for me as I no longer have the strength to stick like I use to and a everyday fall can really hurt me, so hubby does not want to take any chances hence calm Annie

very best of luck with her, she looks absolutely lovely. it looks as if she has a heart-shaped brand on her bum, so cariad would be very fitting. or Heart, as in "Dear Hart" or "Love Heart" for a show name, or Harty when you're yelling it across a field!

I would have thought that you would stick with Annie as there is a musical link between Annie and Oliver...both musicals...lol!

You will know yourself what to call her when you get her home. Perhaps some variation or development of the Annie name.

Best of luck with her, she looks lovely.

Annie looks gorgeous! and she does look like she has a heart shaped mark on her bum!

My daughter is called Carys (welsh variant of the word for love) and we call her Cary for short. So i'm a fan of names Cariad and Cary. (You never forget you're welsh!)

x

The mark on her is actually the British Warmblood brand mark which is a crown, although yes it does look like a heart

I love the name Cariad (Carrie for short) but so many people think Annie suits her I feel bad to change it lol, I do like Anna short for anastasia (show name). I don't know what to do hmmm....
