Got a dressage saddle yesterday, saddler says I need a 36" girth, she's a big girl whose normal girth size is 54 - 56".

I can order one through saddler from Ideal as I like the Affinity one but I need one in the meantime and I can't find any online, just wondered if anyone knew where I can get one?

Thanks in advance of any help! :)

I was always taught to half your normal girth length and add 2", certainly works for my girl.......36" is huge for a dressage girth from the horses I deal with, my sisters chunky 16.3 ID only takes a 30", is there anyone around who could lend you one to try before you have to order one?

36" is indeed huge. My horse takes a 56" normal girth and his dressage girth is 32". I struggle to find a nice 32" girth as it is. I have never seen any dressage girth go larger than 32, but I have just asked Evison to make me a special order dressage girth at 32", but they have a 6 week wait.

Ok, will try one. It was just that saddler said get 36 inch. I measured her last night with saddle on from half way up each girth strap to half way up the other and it was 36 inch. Should the girth buckle up lower then?

That sounds about right and to be honest if that's what your saddler has recommended it is probably right, edited my post above to say Wintec do a 36 inch girth :-)

Or if you wanted Leather these go up to 38inch but have a 6 week lead time
