Ok,
I need some ideas to bring in some money to keep my horse.
I am a full time mother with one child in school and the other one is 18 months so at home. Recently my husband has changed jobs so things are now a little tight. I need to find a way to keep my horses otherwise i think i am gonna have to loan by mare. I also have a yearling and a shetland foal, the yearling cant go anywhere and the shetland dosent cost me anything so the only chose is my mare who i have had for 5 years and love her to bits.
So anyone got any ideas? Did think about an evening job but my husband doesnt get home till about 6.30 sometimes later and then i have my horses to do so wont be able to start work till about 8pm and then i am up at 6am to do horses again before the children get up and hubby goes to work. When would i sleep! my 18 month old doesnt do sleep

Anyone work succesfully from home? That would be my ideal job but only having quailifications in horses dont know what i could work in.
Any ideas would be greatfully recieved as really dont want my girl to go, but at the end of the day, family comes first

have you thought about something like virgin vie? there are loads of things like that you could do, there are some cooking ones too. you can do them all in your own time so should fit in with the GG!

work at the place your horses are kept at in return for free livery ?

don't do kleeneze or similar as they are hard work for little return and long hours - like most advertised 'homeworker' jobs

you've got to look at which of the horses gives you most pleasure and that you really cannot do without. tbh I'd keep the mare and get rid of the shettie and the yearling - or loan them out as companions whilst they are not riding age.

Don't know how good your little one is at sitting quietly playing , but i started a cleaning job when my son was about 2. It was for a family with children so lots of new and interesting toys about to keep him busy. You obviously have to find an employer who is happy for you to take a toddler with you. Wouldn't sugget someone with lots of valuable china! Another idea is to find another Mum in a similar situation and try and work something between you, i.e. you look after their child while they work and vice versa. I also sold Avon, delivered yellow pages and Thomsons directories, and collected information for the census. Wouldn't recomment the latter tho, met some strange people! Another idea would be childminding - though I expect there are loads of rules and regulations before you can register nowadays.

What about childminding while you are home with 2 anyway? Or why not do the horses during the day while 1 child is at school and then look for a pub job for a couple of evenings?

Or get the children to come and help you with the horses, yes even the little one.

Something like that would be good, although i am not a make up person, so dont know how good i would be at selling that sort of stuff!!

I do Virgin Vie but I also work full time (much like having a child I guess) and I have my ned to do. I have found it hard to fit in doing parties to make enough money to make it worth my while....I do enjoy doing the parties and having all the freebies

, but it can be quite time consuming and you have to be very organised!

Could you get a sharer to help with the costs of the mare rather than loaning her out (and then you would still get to ride her?)

Early morning or evening cleaning? Thats the only thing I can think of

My toddler does not sleep either ... (((HUGS)))

my mum works for NATCEN doing reserch you take on as little or as much work as you want and work what ever hours you want however the hours you have free may not be that great cause you have to go to peoples houses to interview them (basically doing research) sorry i couldn't be of more help and i hope you find something

I would look into finding a sharer, this has worked for me in the past and I use to ask for £15 per week plus half of shoeing. Childminding is also a great idea, it will give your child at home some stimulation and believe me 2 is sometimes easier than 1 and at least you'll be getting paid for it!

Know a few mums that do 'twilight shifts' at local B & Q and Asda stocking shelves/checkouts -they do something like couple of eves 7/8pm -11/12mid.Means you would at least get some sleep.Would need car or lift home in middle of night.
But you may no want something as 'tying' as that.

do you have your horses at home? if so, could you take in a full livery? that would put your horsey experience to good use. if horses not at home, how about a freelance groom at the yard/local yards? you could fit in school runs then. A few people have suggested finding a sharer for the mare which seems a good idea too. Best of luck.

Ironing.Loads of people hate ironing and would rather pay someone else to do it.Then you will be at home and earning some money. You could charge something like £10 an hour or £10 a bag.If you can collect/deliver even better!.

what about selling some items on ebay? Do you have any items that the children that have grown out of or items you no longer use?
It may only be a short term thing but would help you raise some cash and who knows if you liked it and could raise enough money you could maybe open a shop on there.
The tax people can let you know how much you can actually earn before paying taxes and they keep a check on ebay anyway through the feedback score.
It may be worth looking into. Just check out the ebay website and tax one and read up on it.
It is good because you can do it from home and all you have to do is nip to the post office or have a courier collect items from you. So long as you have a digi camera or camera phone to upload pics ( does help) then it is really easy.
Don't expect to make loads from it though but you could get some nice amounts for any collectables you have. Even horse gear you don't use anymore someone will want.
You won't have to pay childcare costs and until your youngest goes to nursery it may be an easy way to earn some cash for the time being.
Good luck
