Just got the news that Tamriel has kennel cough :( urg! So, she's on house arrest for 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, that means she can't come to work with me as usual as there are so many dogs and a litter of 2 week old pups!!

Can anyone give my parents any fun tips to keep her occupied? She's very high energy and very good at obedience. She knows - sit, down, stay, wait, paws, high five, heel, on your mark, on your box, on your bed, spin, twist, bow and maybe a couple of other things. She's 8 months old.

One target is to get her to like my Dad more, as she's still wary. The other is to increase the time left alone, but that won't help with energy levels.

Thanks in advance!

Nina Ottosson interactive dog games? She's could play them with your dad to help with bonding, think they are about £20 ish.

Get your dad to teach her things such as a hand target this way she gets used to touching him rather than him touching her. What about some assistance dog tasks such as emptying the washing machine.
A good way to use energy is to scatter her food in the house or garden and get her to "find" her meal, obviously better with dry food.
Regarding the kennel cough she will have been infectious prior to having the symptoms so please get the breeder to watch those puppies v v closely.

My dog has crazy energy and I did very little with him when he had kennel cough. He wasn't well and I didn't want to brown him off by making him do stuff or try and teach him new things on top of that.

Dogs also need to learn to be calm and have down time so I agree probably working on creating a positive association with being left alone and improving her relationship with your dad are your best bets.

She's not actually been anywhere near the pups (ever), or the mother/other dogs for about a week and a half, so I'm hoping it'll be ok, but I've sent her a text :)

Some great ideas :D thanks!
ETA - She's been rather calm today, aside from a mad 20mins at around lunch time. She's sleeping at the moment. I'm hoping to do lots of work that'll keep her mind busy, rather than her body!

As CC says it can make them feel rotten, like a cold, so she may want to sleep. I hope she is soon better, we used benylin for ours when they had it.
