HI.

I am undecided whether I put my mare in foal myself or put her on broodmare loan for 18 months. She is a purebred Trakehner and is approx 16 hh. I put her to Fleetwater Oppostition last time but would be looking more towards an ISH stallion this time.

She is slightly long in the back so looking for something more short coupled. She moves very well but has a daisy cutting action in front, so would want something that moved well behind. She has a lovely temperament but can be a little neurotic at times so must be laid back.

Looking for eventing stamp. She throws big foals so no big stallions if poss, which is where I am struggling.

Like the look of Jetset (ex Jumbo), has anyone used him? Also like Uptons Deli Circus, but she is grey and am not sure about putting her to a coloured. Also like Wish upon a star, although not ISH. Billy Be Cool is also a nice stamp, but again not sure of his temperament. Has anyone seen any progeny by Jetset?

Any suggestions woul be great.

Thanks.

Jetset is lovely, went and met him last year a really nice boy.

BBC is again really nice and his temp is second to none, ring Fred and Lisa at the stud they have got loads of foals by him so you can see what he throws to different mares, and meet the boy himself he is a real gent. William Funnell is competing him ATM.

Thanks. I have seen the Humerist a few years ago. Loved his stamp and temperament. I went with a friend who was looking at buying a youngster by him, from there and sadly the progeny did nothing for me. Also havent seen many up and competing by him.

i loved Wesuvio when i saw him at a stallion parade, lovely boy who seemed very sensible and moved and jumped. i have kept an eye on him on the BE site this season and he has been very consistent.

Wish Upon A Star is also very classy.

we have narrowed down to both of these boys for our TB mare to add a bit of movement.

if you are looking at Jetset (who doesn't set me on fire) why not use his sire Jumbo?

although i like Uptons Deli Circus i think his breeding is a bit of a mishmash to want to put a mare to him.

millitiger - I also saw Wesuvio at a stallion parade and he really caught my eye, although perhaps a little on his forehand at times, but he is young. Had thought about Jumbo himself but he is nearly 17 hands so hoped that there was more of a chance of getting something smaller by looking at Jetset. That said having looked at his eventing record he seems very careless SJ. Although that may be unfair to him.

Jomiln - I have just googled TC and he looks lovely. I wish studs had a few more photos of their stallions or even a video, but definately worth consideration.

Headley Brittania is only tiny.

i have known a lot of Jumbo's who are chunky but not massively tall.

as you say, Jetset's record isn't that great imo, considering he has had some very decent jockeys.

Snoopy - your stallion looks lovely. Just what I'm looking for stamp wise to get a bit more bone. I am a great fan of coloureds, but like them more coloured than white. It would be just my luck to end up with the opposite, hence slightly reluctant to use a coloured stallion. Also mare being grey there is a high chance of a blue and white and i'm not sure I like them.

sarah88 - thanks he looks like a great mover, but I think a little bit too warmblood for me.

eventrider - her sire is Suchard (unfortunately died early), Inter-Graditz line and her dams sire is Consul, hence her most likely throwing big foals. I only have a pic of her jumping so prob not much use to you?

Mt - I so really like Jumbo, and would def have a look, but have a feeling I would end up with a nice 17 hh horse!

Thanks keep the suggestions coming.

In your shoes I would use Axis in a heartbeat LOL and stay Trakehner - super brains and they really jump
This is the Axis filly at our yard having just won the loose jumping title at the breed show as a 2yo

She is Axis x Abdullah x Graditz

She is not quite 16.0hh and is now rising 5

if you want to guarentee the colour and you want Pedigree and under 16hh maybe a rare 7/8th TB Homozygous and only stallion grandson in the world of
Sarahs Pride

maybe what you are looking for hes got Gunner B, in his pedigree who needs no introduction to bloodline of Jump bred TBs
Red Maurader,Grandnational winner Iris Gift Forrset Gunner and Gunner welborne.
please PM me if you are interested best wishes and very good luck with who ever you choose.

There is still a chance though with a homozygous coloured that she could end up with a grey foal though as it could well come out piebald, go blue and white and then fade to grey...

Thanks for all the suggestions. My internet died hence the delay in replying.

Volatis - your filly looks very special. I love trakehners and seem to have a few, but find them all very talented, but not the easiest to ride. That was why I was thinking of using a bit of Irish cross to hopefully end up with a more amateur ride, but hopefully still talented.

I have looked at Axis several times, so would not rule him out, but need to decide if the foal would be more for keeps or to sell, as this would likely influence my decision.
