Help needed for youngstock class please!

I am showing my 2 year old welsh d next week and i have some questions- fair to say i am panicking now lol
1- how long should i get him there before his class?
2- I was going to show him in white rope halter but think i will have some control issues so am now thinking about inhand bridle he has been bitted and will be led round field in bit every day leading upto the show so would you say he will be settled in it enought by then?
3- When showing youngster are you asked to trot round ring or just in straight line?
4- any tips/advice?

1) Id personally aim for hour minimum!!! need to arrive, unload, regroom the horse after its pooped down its back legs in the lorry!

get numbers etc sorted, sort yourself out and especially important with youngsters is walk round for a bit to get them used to surroundings etc! Take polos to make it a bit easier!
2) White halter would look fab on yours (black right?!) however if control is a fear then use bitten inhand bridle! practice lots at home, and use polos as rewards for good behaviour and take them to the show to ensure it keeps going!
3) Trot in a straight line is yes, most of the ones I go to also ask for trot to the rear of the class etc as well, being youngsters they can overlook an odd AHHH moment, or 2 steps of canter etc, but try to minimise this as much as poss (and obv is one horse doesnt do this, they will likely get placed higher!)
4) Tips - IMMACULATE horse! being a pure welsh, single plait behind the ear is a characteristic thing in welshes, you - trousers should contrast horses legs so black legs = pale trousers. Take polos to ensure concentration and calmness etc is focussed on you! RUN LIKE HELL when trotting to allow the horse to show of their paces nicely! just make sure cantering is stopped straight away and back to trot! talking to the horse on the way round often helps so quietly saying trot trot trot on the way round allows the horse to know what you want....... and calm u too!

Smile and have fun!!! even if you think the judges is making awful calls on the placing etc still smile and bitch on the way home!

Also stand your youngster square if at all possible, practice this at home, as will make you appear to have a great show horse if it can compared to other youngsters who cant! (again polos + practice here!)

Ah ok not black, but still need pale trousers (like cream cords or something... look in tesco, sainsburys and asda, they generally have some!)

white halter would look lovely on him! but a plain in hand bridle would also work! what colour is the stitching on it?
 
am looking on ebay it was white but just found another that has a plain flat noseband and browband with brass buckles
 
That sounds much better! in theory the browband should be plain and flat as well, although for in hand, it wont matter that much, plus he is native so forlock will cover some of it!

what colour are your attachments for the lead leather? if thye are brass thats great! if its silver, it can clash a bit! (but thats me being rather anal about it all

) (I think brass is the right colour for his colouring though!)
