... a nice restaurant!
As we're a small company, and all work miles away from each other, we usually do something nice for Christmas. This year I've booked us for the races at Cheltenham, and a hotel, but need somewhere to go for a meal in the evening. Just a normal meal, not looking for Christmas dinner. About 16 of us.
Any ideas?
Hope it's ok to ask this on here, and PM me if you'd prefer, any good or bad recommendations!
Many thankies and a hot toddy! :)

Not the plushest of places (but not a total hoval) but for really good food you could try Cleeve hill golf club, we have had some super meals in there in the past, you would probably need to book as I know they dont always open raceday evenings, but when we enquired about haveing a meal there after racing in march they said they would stay open for us and we had the whole place to ourselves (all 3 of us!). But it is out of town so would need transport!

If you want a non-chain restaurant I’d recommend The Storyteller, just on the edge of town, really quirky and serves wonderful ‘proper cooked’ food with a reasonable menu range to cater for most tastes.

The Daffodil is a converted cinema or theatre (cant remember, sure someone will correct!) and I’ve never been but it’s very highly acclaimed and also quite reasonably priced.

If you’re looking for a pub, The Swan at Coombe Hill (between Chelt and Tewks sort of) is very nice, but I’d choose The Bathurst Arms which isn’t Cheltenham but more like Cirencester and probably slightly more than your average pub however I’ve been numerous times and no one ive been with, nor myself, has a bad word to say about it – think it won an award for being so good this year!

I have a real thing about going out for a meal and having proper food, not a glorified ready meal in a chain pub lol. I believe most of these mentioned above are google-able, but feel free to pm me for more info if you want! (also, if you want a ‘local’ tour guide feel free to invite me along ha ha)

There's so many lovely places to eat out around here! :)

Lots of restaraunts in Montpellier area of cheltenham (indian, tai, italian, lebaneze etc), but just outside of cheltenham towards cirencester, there are endless amounts of lovely pubs and great food. My favourite being "the Green Dragon" in Cowley, "The Golden Heart" just outside of Birdlip (right on the A417), but award winning food and "The Five Mile" a few miles down the 417 from the golden heart.

Hope any of that helps... I'm a little vague on the names of restaraunts in cheltenham, but i've eaten at lots and can see their specific location in my head!! Ha, massive help me!! :D

Ooo, yes, we ate at the Daffodil a couple of years ago after the cheltenham festival... but i was so tired and drunk i pretty much fell asleep in my food!! :D :D

It was lovely though, but i do remember it being packed and quite noisy, so might not be great if you want good conversation round the table... but then we did go at an extreem time. :)

Again... my helpful information is just first class today! :D

Aww thanks you guys, I knew I could bank on some good info.... will be looking at the ones mentioned in the town, as transport will be a bit tricky getting out to a country pub and back... but will take note of all of these as we often meet my step-kids in this area as it's pretty much half way between us, so you've been useful twice! :D
All I need now are some good solid tips for the racing...... ;):p

Sorry to bump this, as I know it's not horsey (apart from the fact we will be at the races that day!!) but I'm waiting to hear if the Daffodil or the Storyteller can fit us in, so any other recommendations please? My boss does like his food and wine, so looking for something suitable.... :)

Thanks again!
