Hello all
I am moving next week ... yes next week slightly in a worry mode at this time!
I am looking for the impossible or at least this is how it feels at the moment....
I am looking for a sole use small yard with an arena, and some grazing so i can move my horses with me. I am a dressage rider and trainer although this is only a part time thing and much of a hobby these days! I run my own business which is also relocating to Gloucester City Centre.
I really don't know a lot of the area, literally this is all new to me so i am really wanting some help on where to go, who has spaces who doesn't and defiantly who to stay away from>? (The latter can be in a private message)
If the above is not around right now then a decent DIY yard will be great as long as it has good facilities.
It needs to be as close to the City Centre as possible at this time, since getting there twice a day as a minimal is a must.....
I would consider renting a few stables that is in a secluded section of a DIY yard, a farm or similar, but needs to have turnout, and ideally an arena or similar.
I would like to have a sole use yard since i am aware of the pitfalls of DIY having worked in the horse industry for years and now looking from the other side of the fence. On a plus there isn't a million rules that has to be followed by how someone else thinks you should look after your horses.
As i say i have done this professionally for many years training horses to many levels in dressage. I am happy to teach and train other people if this would also help! (For instance if you have a private yard and would like some training in a more gentle approach but backed by some serious knowledge) But saying this i am also happy to just be me and love spending time with the horses, riding and training.... I don't compete very often so i am not likely to be coming into the yard and leaving at stupid times. (Helpful if it is next to your house, I am not intending to disturb anyone's living pattern)...... As i say i have practically retired from it all now although im only 33 i have moved on to other things like a limited company which i am a director of.... this leaves me enough time to enjoy horses more than being the end of and beginning of everything.
Also please be aware everyone that i don't know the area, i am moving because of the limited company relocating and myself with it..... This is a seriously stressful time since my horse that i currently have has been with me since a 3 yr old and is settled where he is... this means i am having and knowingly having to stress him again by moving him ,...... he will settle again somewhere else but at the same time i am aware that this will take time. I don't want to have him in part or full livery, since i have had bad experiences of this and would prefer if i had a sole use situation, i am very responsible, and would be happy to make somewhere suitable our new horsey home!
I am a friendly and approachable person who really just wants the best for the horses, ideally with running water and electric.... a small holding or similar or a little stable yard with an arena would be such a bonus as this will help massively with retraining and bringing horses back into work..... ideally 3-4 stables would be great as this would allow for expansion yet not be mad sized and unmanageable no more than 6 stables... ideally with a tack room or similar and some space to store hay/haylage and bedding.... obviously this does not need to be a massive space but is an ideal...
I would consider sharing with a professional rider or trainer, or similar..... if this could be possible also.
If anyone has any ideas of where to start in this search please reply or PM me
Kind Regards
