I borrowed a friends horsebox (a VW LT-35 conversion) and have cracked the glass in the passenger side door mirror. I went on Ebay immediately and found replacement glass for a LT-35 door mirror - however when it arrived I realised that the mirrors were obviously changed when converting to a horsebox as they are far far bigger than what I received.

I have phoned a commercial spares company and they have asked me for the number on the back of the mirror, which I have given. However this means nothing to them as they were expecting a 4 digit number. I've emailed them with the size, photo's and description, but clearly they aren't interested in helping as I've had no response back.

So as a last resort before I investigate getting a piece of glass cut to size , or buying a whole new mirror unit, I just wondered if anyone on here might be able to help?

The glass is approx 350 x 165mm. The code on the back of the unit is 0014082 (this same code appears in different places on the unit and is sometimes prefixed by E1). The glass is slightly convex rather than flat.

Incidentally, the mirror on the drivers side has no code on at all and I'm not convinced it's the same mirror.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to where I might locate what this mirror is or where I can find replacement glass, I would be very grateful. Looking on Ebay and such, it doesnt appear to be a standard size.

It's so annoying when that happens, you have my sympathy.

I have always used Magnum Vehicle Solutions when I crack a mirror - usually get someone helpful and knowledgeable on the phone. 0208 9415804.

But I don't think you can just replace the glass bit - I have always had to buy the whole unit again.

There are a few lorry scrapyards that might be worth trying for a cheaper option, otherwise think you will just have to buy a whole new one or a second hand one if you can find one. It sounds like one has been replaced already if they don't match.

Do you have an Intertruck near you? http://www.intertruck.co.uk/

I buy all the replacement bits for my lorry there - absolutely the cheapest place. I got an entire new mirror unit including the plastic surround etc for £20 and to just replace the glass was under a tenner. They are super helpful too - I just took the old glass in and they found a replacement which would fit the frame for me.

Thanks for the replies. Typically, after waiting a week with no response, the commerical parts company emailed about 5 minutes after I posted this. They identified the mirror and we were able to go down and get replacement glass. My hubby's just fitted it so job done, and cost me the grand total of £4.80 :D

At least we now know what the part number is should we need to replace again!
