Help needed please with a delicate problem

Pig oil is quite thick oil, often used as a barrier on legs/tail/to keep feathers protected. Originally for showing pigs, made from a coconut derivative. I stick on the boy's legs to make rinsing mud off easier-it slides off.

Really?

I'm going to look incredibly dim now but what the hell. :p I've not liked the idea of pig oil as I assumed it was made of pigs! :o:o

I'd never heard of pig oil until I joined this forum, and when people talked about it I thought "yuck" at the thought of smearing Oil of Pig on my horse.

If I ever had any credibility here... there it goes.

Mmmm, piggy goodness!

It's a clear, viscous (not vicious!! It won't attack you!) liquid meant to produce a nice shine on show pigs and presumably making a naughty pig very difficult to wrestle!

I totally covered Beau's feathers three weeks ago with it and they're blinking amazing! Bright white although compared to snow, not as brilliant, obviously. Creature on right:

No it isn't it is a mineral oil the same as baby oil. It is not made from coconuts.

Omg, I've been lied to! I stand corrected. Just done a quick google-paraffin oil? Confused now. At least I didn't ask if it was halal like someone on the yahoo questions thing!! (If they think it's made of pigs, how could it be halal?! :D)

We used to use baby oil on our old skewbald's legs, down the hocks and end of the tail. When we washed him, the dirty beastie and diamond white shampoos were good.

If you try pig oil, do a patch test, as a lot are allergic. Also remember with any oil, that in sunny weather, especially when snow on the ground, you can get sunburn..
