The reason it that I’m trying to get hold of suitable photos (hopefully from you) for a fundraising calendar for 2011 ‘Action on the Bridleways’ for my local bridleways group (Mid Sussex Area Bridleways Group) and for a local charity. The group operates in the area between the River Adur in the west and the River Ouse in the east and West Hoathley, Balcombe to the north and photos needs to be within this area.

Photos need to be ‘action on the bridleway’ perhaps a picture taken through the horses legs (walking, trotting etc), ears, bit rings, stirrups etc (don’t really want posing pictures and can be taken from the front, side rear etc) – just fun pictures with the ‘buy me factor’. The idea is to get suitable photos so that companies can sponsor a page/month.

Here’s some other ideas for suitable pictures:

• On the South Downs with the yellow rape seed in flower as a background.
• Pictures of new born lambs bouncing around in the Spring sunshine.
• Riders/bridleways and Sussex landmarks like Jack & Jill Windmills, Stamner Park, Black Cap, The ‘V’.
• Scenic and seasonal – daffodils/primroses; bluebells in the woods, rape seed fields; snow; autumnal colour.
• The family factor - children out on their bikes; with the dog? cat and pony too?
• The ‘cute’ factor – Shetlands and small children out riding or leading along a bridge or in long grass.
• Artistic pictures of bridleway ‘furniture’- old bridges; gates, etc .
• A pub – folk with horses ‘refreshing’ themselves outside. The Jolly Sportsman, East Chiltington (where by a pub to sponsor the page) or outside a Harvey’s Public House (Harvey’s sponsorship maybe).
• Good old British weather - An early morning ride across the SDW with the sun rising; Riding out in the pouring rain! Or a windy moment! or a large puddle moment!
• Balcombe Viaduct (as a background) from the BW at Borde Hill or the one behind Ardingly College – can you see it from anywhere else horsey? Stone Hall?
• Borde Hill - Horse Trials during May, or even a Sponsored Ride somewhere else
• A group of endurance riders in action locally - from Plumpton College
• Wivelsden Farm Cross country – would they or the Pony Club sponsor a page!
• Hacking on Chailey Common or perhaps Ditchling Common with flowering heather/gorse bushes and birch trees.
• Chattri War memorial on the South Downs Way – the Sussex Border path (bridleway) passes alongside.
• Riding out and walking the dog together or riding to work – on horseback!
• Ditchling Beacon Dew Pond with contented grazing cows.
• A fluorescent moment – Be safe Be seen – would the Police sponsor this?
• Is there a bridleway at Sheffield Park with the lake as a background?

If any of the above keywords catch your imagination please volunteer to take a ‘snap’ – you could be famous!

Variety and ‘quality’ of pictures in the calendar will help sell it to a wide audience. Outlets will be local stores, pubs, newsagents, post offices, tack shops, farm shops, feed stores, etc. All I need is 12 great pictures with the ‘buy me factor’.

I hope you can help me out.

Many thanks.
