Ok after some help with wording for a sign for Pidges stable. He is grumpy when eating and is best left alone. We are in an indoor barn. I ask everyone nicely to keep away from Pidge if eating his breakfast or tea. However livery next to me totally disregards this and takes his horse as close as possible to Pidge when eating. Last time he did this was Saturday morning despite me asking him nicely to take his horse on the opposite side of the walkway. Tonight Pidge has been really grumpy to this horse as he is obviously harbaring a grudge against horse after Saturday. So long story over what is the best wording to put on a sign on Pidge's door to try to encourage this one person not to take his horse near Pidge when he's eating. Pidge only normally pulls faces but by his reaction tonight I'm not sure what would happen if this horse comes near him again! Help and advice needed please?

I can bite, you have been warned. If you choose to ignore this notice, pass at your own peril....

There's a horse like that with a sign on his door that says please leave me alone while i'm eating thank you! Could word it like that?

Think that might be best as not sure I want to put on it that he bites as he doesn't! Well not at the moment but having seen the way he reacted to this horse tonight I wouldn't like to put money on it

Are you putting it on a board to hang on the stable?

Warning, moody horse does NOT want you near him- So bog off. (Perhaps people might take slight offence to that

think he might not take any notice of that one, he is very thicj skinned! If I had my way it would be f*** off away from my horse when he's eating you ignorant sh**! however I suppose I have to be polite

what makes it worse is that I have told him umpteen times and it still doesn't sink in!

I had someone similar to that at a livery yard I use to be at many many many moons ago, The horses use to be able to look round the dividing walls at the front of the stables in the barn, I had an empty stable next to my new horse so I felt quite happy letting my horse have a corner manger for this feeds as there was no horse next door, I was (or thought I was) pumping food into my new horse wandering why he wouldn't hold any weight and was quite concern, anyway one day I drove out of the yard got to the end of the lane and realised I hadn't put water on my sugarbeet so I turned round and went back to do it, I walked into the barn to find one of the girls had her horse stood in the empty stable next to my horse and he was eating my horses food round the front of the box because my horse wouldn't stand up for himself. Needless to say I went ballistic and has it turns out she had been doing this everyday after I left for weeks, so she didn't have to buy her horse any hard food...and although people knew what she was doing no one bothered to tell me. I think what I am trying to say is that every yard seem to have a pig ignorant person that really couldn't give a toss about anyone elses horse's well being! I feel abit better after that little rant and as you can tell it still makes me cross to this day (14 years on!)

I would put the the sign:
Beware of the horse at feed times
Come near at your own risk!
What I did after what happened was insist to the YO that my horse was moved to an outside stable on a different block well away from this girl.

everyone that knows him ignores his face pulling and takes horses opposite side of walkway if he is eating, it is just this one livery that is the problem

Have tried coligone but don't really want to feed him this all the time, as he is fine if left alone just doesn't like horses led 6" away from his door when eating!

Is the place where he eats his food from close to the door? Or does he just not like horses near the door whilst eating- even if he is on the other side?

woah what a cheapskate! some people really take the biscuit don't they! no chance of horse moving though and don't want to move Pidge

It is near the door as he has 2 haynets in front right corner, water bucket in front left near door so feed goes as far to right as possible. he is very possessive over his feed but has got better with me since I've had him. Just doesn't like horses near him when eating.

I know, i use to feel really sorry for her horse, she really didn't look after it very well, it had one bale of hay aweek and one bale of straw - can you imagine that, I was sooo happy when she sold him and he found a lovely new home where he got all the love and attention and FEED that he deserved. I had a quiet word with this girl after I calmed down - I told her I didn't appreciate her upsetting my horse and stealing his food and she should be very very careful about upsetting his owner, she was older than me but I think she got the message!
I recently bought a sign for our yard for my dad as a joke, it says:
Never mind the guard dog, beware of the owner!
