help needed, re Royal Mail !!!!!! Grrr .

I posted 3 mobile phones through Royal Mail special delivery , insured upto £150 , to the mobile phone recyclers Envirofone .

I had been on envirofones website and been informed how much my mobiles were worth . total £140 .

So.....................

I receive email from envirofone saying they have received my order and will be posting cheque in due course.

Cheque arrives for £50 I contact and ask why only 2 of my mobiles were detailed and paid for , they said they only received 2 of them , the 3rd mobile was a slightly faulty apple i phone , that never made it to its destination , of envirofone?!?!!!!

So they said to contact royal mail , I did so , filled out usual bumph forms >>>>>> Royal mail state i need to provide packaging of item, this is not possible as envirofone did not keep hold of it as they didnt know there was a problem >>

So today I receive letter saying that they will be happy to refund me £5.05 for the cost of posting ????!!!!! Hah !!!!

So the £90 odd pound i have lost out on from envirofone, because royal mail has lost my item !!!!! what am i meant to do now ????

Does anyone know who regulates royal mail etc ??? can i see someone else to explain this situation ???

Did you not send them altogether in one package? So if they received two they would have received the other?

You say you need to provide packaging for a faulty item but then mention royal mail has lost it... which is it?

If it's lost then fill out the claim form thing. You should only need proof of postage and not packing (because that's not been received...

Sorry if that doesn't make any sense but I'm confused by your post!

I just recently had to claim for loss of an item and went to the biggest brand of PO in my area for help (the smaller ones don't tend to be that 'good' when you can go to a bigger one)...
 
I must admit that I got a bit confused by the post too. Fill in the lost item form with proof of how much the phone was worth i.e. your quote from Envirophone. The RM will then contact Envirophone to ask if they received the item nd ten whn they say no the RM should send you a cheque.
 
A relative of my OH's is a postie and he tells us that things go missing an awful lot ... esp. packages that look like CDs and DVDs. I'm perhaps being cynical, but someone working in Royal Mail is likely to have heard of Envirofone and what they do and had a wee look through your package. Strange it was an iPhone that went missing, since they are sought after and expensive?
 
Thanks everyone, Yes Only one mobile went missing funnily enough .

Kat , thats kind of what I thought , envirofone is freepost but being wary of the sometimes light fingered Royal mal workers I thought I would be very sensible and send item special delivery , insured etc , in case of this exact thing happening !!!

The 3 mobiles were all in the one padded jiffy envelope , but when the envelope reached envirofone, there was only 2 mobiles in the envelope .

So i am trying to show the royal mail that 2 out of the 3 mobiles reached their destination, these 2 were both faulty too , more faulty than i phone, so i thought well someone has opened my package seen 3 mobiles, i phone which will switch on and work for a bit but slightly temperamental , and other sony ericson which will work for a bit , and the last one which had a badly damaged lcd screen so useless.


They say they wont refund me the value of mobile , without packaging !!??? Packaging was binned by envirofone !!!

I have provided them with my envirofone quotes , but as usual with stuff like this no matter , what you do to try and safeguard yourself , big companies like this always seem to win !!!!

GRRRRR, sorry bit of a rant again !!!!!

So , what am i meant to do now? have written a strongly worded letter back to them , Provided them again with Envirofone contact details and told them they better go and look through the last lot of bumph i sent first time round with original claim form , Ie my envirofone quote things!!!

Difficult one this, as the package did arrive. It will be your word against theirs and they are unlikely to admit one of their staff was a bit 'dishonest' and took one out.
On the otherhand, who is to say that someone at envirofone didn't pocket it?
