Help needed selling my horse!

Hi all,
I currently own a 16.2hh irish draught x thoroughbred gelding. He's 11 years old and I've been trying to sell him on and off for around 8 months.
Trouble is when I advertise him I seem to get no interest!! I advertised him with good photos and description. Not sure what else to do, due to my job I just have no time for him and want him to go to a good home. I bought him for £3000 and am only advertising £2400, due to him being unfit as hes only ridden once a week at most.
Any tips on selling? Or anyone know of anyone in the South East who sells horses on behalf of others?

No help, but sympathy.

I've got a 3yr old TB filly to sell and aside from the fact she's littered with health issues at the moment, the only interest I got was someone quizzing me where i got her from originally and would they be able to get one similar!!
 
Sorry this is of no help but I was in exact same position last summer with my mare. I even re-advertised trying to think of anything I could vaguely call a 'fault' as she seemed to good to be true! Still no interest. Glad she didn't sell as I would be devasted to lose her - hubbys mare is going up for sale in spring instead ;) Best of luck!
 
If he's effectively out of work, his schooling will have slipped as well - in which case he's probably / possibly overpriced. Can you get him working three times a week to bring him back up to fitness etc, so he can be sold as more ready-to-go? It shouldn't take long and it ought to make him much more sellable. It also allays any fears that he's out of work for a less savoury reason than lack of time!
 
I think he is massively over priced. He's 11 so getting on really, doesn't sound like he's well schooled, isnt ready to compete by the sounds of it. Just a first impression sorry :o
 
We couldn't give away horses last year. Maybe wait till April when the winter is over.

Have you considered a part loan or full loan option.
 
If he's sound and easy to do, I don't see why £2400 is unreasonable. Can you put some time/money into getting him fit, and maybe get him out to a few competitions? If you could hold onto him until the spring and get him fitter you might have more luck - you could look into sales livery? Or find a sharer who can work with you to get him going again, although in that scenario I wouldn't charge somebody to ride - doesn't seem fair to pay to get a horse fit so the owner can sell on!
 
If he is a really safe and nice hack then £2400 is worth it. Saying that my new boy, same breeding, 9 years old cost me £1000 in October.
Also is he now 12? That sounds worse than 11, don't know why!
Sometimes you have to cut your losses, if you are paying livery you should/could have given him away 8 months ago. sorry to depress you.
 
I don't think its particularly a price issue either. Anyway the OP was just asking if anyone knew of a sales livery place.. Perhaps look online for local dealing yards?

I was just talking to someone who is trying to sell their fab pc pony and has had no interest. I think its a lot to do with the time of year. Come the Feb half term people seem to start thinking more to summer and new ponies/horses for the season..

Where have you been advertising? Some sites are better than others.
