Help needed urgently!!! Long

A friend of mine has recently (about 2-3 months ago) bought a new horse. He's 16.1 irish sport horse. When she went to try him he rode like a dream but since hes been home he's been a complete s**t. It started by when she put him into canter he used to take off around the arena and then eventually settle down but was still edgy. She begun to get this under control and for a week or so he worked nicely. She's doing her GCSE's at the mo so not having a lot of time to ride, but asked the yard owner of where she keeps him to ride her for him. She schooled him a couple of times and has hacked him with no problems. She also took him for a jumping lesson and he was brilliant, not putting a foot wrong.
However, she was out for a hack with a friend on monday of this week and asked him for canter and he went into an almighty bucking fit. This wasn't playful bucking either, it was really nasty " i'm putting you on the floor" type bucking. She came off and he took off. After being caught she tried to remount and he did exactly the same again. she ended up leading him home. This has now scared my friend as she isn't very big, and is slightly overhorsed to be honest. They lady who has been riding him events and is a competent rider. The horses teeth and back have been checked recently and no problems were found.

I was wondering if any one had any advice for her as if not she is going to have to sell him. Thanks
 
How does the other ride find the horse? Might be a bit controversial BUT here goes...I sometimes think that if a very positive professional type rider gets after a horse it can make them too much for the owner, because they can become too sharp. When the owner then gets on they use it as an excuse to d1ck about. Just a thought may not apply here.
I would tell her not to worry, it was one bad incident, horses can be monsters when they are settling in somewhere new. It sounds like she was going great guns until this happened focus on the good rides like her jumping lesson remind her she solved the last problem OK and build her confidence up slowly.

because of her exams she ahsn't had time to ride him, thats why other has been. she's only ridden him in the school but even then he was pissing off with her. The pro rode him in jumping lesson so no comfort there either. she really loves the horse and he is so good in the stable but she now becoming scared of riding him. He has bucked with her before too but not like this. Confidence isn't always her strong point either
 
Oh OK sorry I misunderstood which rider you were talking about.
She does sound as if she maybe just took on too much. You know the saying green + green = black and blue!
It's a difficult call, I've been there myself and come through with lots of lessons and ended up having a really good partnership with the horse. However it did take a long time to get my confidence back and I don't know if I might have been better off calling it a day and getting something more appropriate but it isn't easy when you get attached.
 
If the person she bought the horse from was a professional rider who was acting in her business when she sold the horse, your friend might be able to return the horse because it is not suitable for the purpose for which she bought it.
If the seller was a private individual she can only return it if it was not accurately described or the seller misrepresented it in some way.
She should contact the seller as soon as possible rather than keep waiting for things to get better, the longer she leaves it the more difficult it will be to do anything.
Wish her luck it is a horrible situation.
 
She bought him from a private seller and i think he was well described. For the minute i think she will keep working him in the school to see if he gets any better. I have given her the number of someone who i recently bought a lovely 2 yr old from who does part exchange but i think she wants that to be a last resort. Just really looking for any suggestions that might help her out. Thanks for all ideas so far. Please keep them coming
