Help needed urgently on fencing! Please

Hello , i need to make a small paddock for my horse today. I have brought 20 plastic fence posts, some electric rope, 2 handles and car battery. Do i need anything else and how on earth do i connect the battery to the fence?????????

You need an electric fencing unit as well. You can get a decent one for about £70. Thats what goes between the fence and the battery.

you are best buying an energiser as well, this will make your battery last longer as it will be a pulse rather than constant stream of electric. It will come with cables - one to attach to the fencing, one to attach the earthing rod, the one to attach to both terminals of your battery
You can just buy the cables which you would then attach to your fencing/earthing rod.
Think the energisers are about £90

you dont have to have one but I was told that if i didnt have one that the battery would only last about a week so i would be constantly charging it where as on the energiser it lasts about 6 weeks. Have a look on ebay, you can pick one up pretty cheap sometimes

Do i need an energiser?

Much safer and easier plus your battery will last much longer between charges.

ok thanks, i will look at getting an energiser. But because it has to be done today, can i just use the battery. Thanks for your help, i really dont understand what im doing

Would recommend a wooden post in each corner of the padock as the plastic one put out easliy on the corners and start the bend after a while xxx

god i didnt know any of this, i spent £60 just buying the fences already without any of this engizeer stuff. If it will work with just the battery how do i connect. i dont mind charging it weekly untill i sort an engigizer out.

i got informed by my agri merchant that they do work without energisers just dont last as long as as Spaniel has metioned, they arent as safe without them.
