Hi Folks

First off I'd like to say hello as I'm new here. The second was to ask for little help concerning my mare.

She first had a nasty abscess that I poulticed and managed to contain and sort out. However, as her other hoof has a slight crack, and the fact she had to load weight onto it during the period in which she had the abscess, I have been told it could be load-bearing laminitis.

Any tips of box resting etc...?

Welcome.

If you suspect laminitis you need a vet to diagnose. Ime cracks and abscesses often have dietary problems as part of the cause. Excess sugars and or mineral deficiency or imbalance. Cracks can be worsened by hoof imbalance and microbes getting into weakened lamina (diet/metabolic distress).
