Due to sudden relationship breakdown I need to find new homes for two tbs whose future I am worried about. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do with a 13 year old ex racer, lovely horse but not done much else and a 8 year old with a tendon injury who is sound but needing more time off.
Both horses I would ideally like to loan but they seem unlikely prospects but I cannot look after them anymore.

where are the horses based at the moment? I have 8 acres of empty pasture looking for four legged munchers. I have evented and broken TBs all my life and now have show ponies for my children but would like to get back to riding myself.

I am so sorry to hear about your dilemma. It must be really hard for you at the mo. Why dont you try the Blue Cross and explain to them what has happened. They really are excellent and vet the homes before rehoming. No i dont work for them either!!

Or poss something like the ILPH. I know if you want to retire into a home it will cost you their livery. So perhaps better off trying the charities.

Good luck with things.

thanks for your message but neither horse needs to retire - they are just difficult to find homes for as they are tbs and one is 13 and the other resting at the mo. Both horses could go on and do almost anything they just need the right home and a bit of patience. Both are really nice horses and deserve a good future, I just wish it could be with me but its not possible.

The ILPH usually have waiting lists of loan homes looking for riding horses, some of which will go on and become successful competition horses if thats what suits them. They would also keep one in rehab until he/she was ready to go out, and they are extremely careful about where the animals are placed. And I don't work for them either!!
