hi, from what i've read most people seem to frown on overweight people riding but i love horses and love riding. i live in exeter in devon but cannot find anywhere that will take me, i am actively trying to lose weight but still want to ride as well, does anyone know of a stable within the area that would take me, i'm 5"2 and weigh almost 19 stone which i know is too much for my height but i'm trying to lose it.

any help appreciated

Have you tried all the usual riding schools in the area? Oaklands?

Im based on the outskirts of Totnes and have been to a few around and some do cater for all.

yeah oaklands was the first place i tried, have also tried Haldon, Hitts Barton, Devinish Pitt, Budleigh, Finlake and a couple of the ones on dartmoor

Hello,

I would just like to say as an over weight girl myself i know how you are feeling! i have just got back my old horse that i sold 13 years ago and im in the same boat as you. im hoping that the eatra exercise will keep me fit and loose it a bit quicker!!

I must admit for my size im very fit and can muck pick all day!! i love it!!

I know its maybie not what your wanting to do but have you thought about mabie helping at a local stable yard, i find the work im doing really helps my weight loss, it may speed yours up and you can still be around them get to know more and great exercise!

Good luck and i really hope you get sorted!!

If there is anyone out there who can give me some advice i have a 15.3 irish draft what weight do you think she would take up to?

stacey x
