hi,

i am showing my 3 year old palomino part bred arab in a young stock in hand class on the 30th june. this is my first show and i have no idea what to wear. should she be plaited or left natural? i have a collegaite in hand bridle in black is this ok? do i wear tweed? hair net or hat? or both? any help or pics etc would be more than appreciated.

thanks xx :)

Part breds should be plaited.

Tweed jacket is correct for in-hand.

Yes wear a hat and hairnet (and gloves - brown).

In-hand bridle is fine for a 3 yo, adults should be bitted (double or pelham most usual)

I'd love to post a photo but photobucket isn't letting me upload grrrrr

ETA: here is a photo, it will be massive as I can't work out the new photobucket!

that pic is amazing you both look fab! her mane is quite long an flowing. would an arab plait be ok? i didnt think palominos had to be plaited. i have googled a few pics and some horses are plaited and some arent. it is very confusing. i will have to pull it to plait. xxx :)

Thanks, she's beautiful isn't she :). It was the TARRA (Thoroughbred and Retired Racehorse Association) in-hand class at Heathfield show (for adult horses, not youngstock). She's going to be my small hack next year but is just getting out and seeing some sights at the moment.

For part bred arab classes you definitely need to plait but I'm not sure about palomino classes.

Is the class a general youngstock class or a part bred arab class or a palomino class? That may have a bearing on things. Someone else on here will probably know about the palomino side of things.

Also, as I told a poster on another thread I get my in-hand trousers from Sainsburys and they are about a tenner, they have lighter cream colours but it was a muddy day so I chose the darkest light pair I have.

Good luck!

ETA: this isn't a pro pic, it was taken on my friend's i-phone just for the reference of any would be button pushers
