Posted on competition riders but may get more response here. I have a really nice quiet TB allrounder but Im really having problems getting people interested in him for sale. I have advertised him in H&H 3 times (always had bad positioning in the page and additional pics only some times upload), Horse Hunter and Horse Deals.

Is there anything in these that would put you off? Any thing I can do to improve? Is he over priced? What do you think of the videos, help of a hindrence?

He was a bit of a rescue project but now its nearly winter i do not have the time or money for him. He really needs to go as my only other option is to take him up north to a friends which would be very cheap but he would not get looked after properly, she has welshied, a whole different ball ground to a TB.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

All looks good with plenty of description, nice horse. Only problem is I think there are a lot of TB's for sale at the moment and people don't want to spend a lot on them as they know how cheaply they come through the sales. I am sure if your boy is as quiet and sensible as he seems once you got someone to try him they would be more than happy but as one who is currently looking and a little wary of the TB nature (unless you are lucky enough to get a good laid back one I fully appreciate), I imagine many others feel the same way as me. Good luck as he does look lovely and I am sorry cannot be more constructive, just a buyers viewpoint thats all!

I want him!! I prefer the horsedeals ad, just because there is more info (although prefer the photo in the horse+hound ad.)

He sounds a lovely type, I would perhaps put his price up to £2500? Because that way you could accept an offer of £2000, but when searching the horse and hound classifieds, you are given the option to search for "horses between £2500 and £5000", and so he would show up in this category. Also, peculiar as it sounds, too low a price can put people off, and I personally (if he was a couple of inches smaller) would pay up to £3500 for him!

Another thing! In the video with the jumps, the horse wearing a neck strap would concern me slightly! (I mean, it's sensible to jump with a neck strap, but when he's being advertised for his safe, laid back nature, you don't really want to see that!) However, they are good vids, and I have gone to view horses before simply because of the videos!

In fact, I like him so much, I quite want to come and see him :o He is bigger than I want, but he does have a gorgeous canter... The thing is, Oxfordshire may be too far away from where I am, do you know roughly how long it would take to get to your yard from Bristol?

about an hour or so....oxfordshire isnt that far from me and I am in newport...x

And another thing! Sorry, I keep thinking of stuff after I've already posted

Where it says "not for a complete novice", that rings alarm bells! I am not a complete novice, but still worries me! By complete novice, do you mean beginner rider? Or more of a coming off ponies type? Even though my horses are not complete novice rides, they are perfectly safe, and fairly easy rides, and I would hope that their breeding and the level that they're competing at would make it clear to people that they aren't really suitable as beginner's horses, I would never use the phrase 'not a novice ride', as all the horses I know that have been advertised as such have been nutcases! I just feel that it would put a potential purchaser off!

I've just bought a TBxWB so was looking for quite a while. I agree with comment above, there are lots of TB x-racers out there and the market does appear to be a bit saturated at the moment. In my experience, other than those produced by professionals with reasonable bloodlines and those that are flashy, I'm not sure horses are selling that well, especially coming into winter......can you keep him until the spring and re-sell as it's always easier to sell in the spring?
Looking at your ad with my buyers glasses on, I would say: GOOD POINTS a) your description/picture is good, b) video of flatwork is great. c) Good riding!
THINGS TO CHANGE: I would take out the second video of jumping. In the first video (flatwork he looks quite flashy.) In second video however, (I think you're trying to show him in open ground) but he does look a bit more green. I would describe that over the phone and let buyers see that when they come. Also, he does appear a bit cheap! Has he got any vices, etc? That price, buyers may think so. But it is difficult to price at the outset - Just my opinion! Good luck!
