Just got back from livery yard to be told fees are going up by £10 a month. I wouldn't mind if it was a yard with atleast some facilities but this is a rough and ready yard with no land management, any fencing is sorted by us, we're moaned at when we use water and the situation just isn't getting any better.

So I'm thinking moving is best, maybe try and get something with a school or at least paddocks that are actually looked after!! I'm based in Street so I'm looking for things in that area (Glastonbury, Butleigh, Somerton, Walton) ideally no more than 20-30 min drive max., with some possible help with turnout or feeding in the mornings.

I'm looking for 24/7 turnout in the summer minimum, all year round would be great but not an issue if not. Stable would be wanted so I at least have the option to bring him in. School would be hugely benefical and looked after paddocks would be a delight! I'm happy to do a bit here and there, help out with fencing or fixing up or tidying up etc. but I would like somewhere that is managed.

Any suggestions greatly received! Along with prices if you know them.

Thanks :)

Somerton Court might have spaces, Naydon (near Lydford). I'm thinking Yeovil Marsh would be too far from you, although I can get to jnt 23 from there in 30 mins in the lorry. If it's not too far then you have Lower Carrents Farm (massive school, on site cover, assisted DIY if needed. Not sure how quick you want to move but there is also a big yard being built in Yeovil Marsh itself.

Thank guys, blakesmum do you know Somerton Court's number? Yeovil marsh is probably a bit too far unfortunately, and I know Naydon only does full livery now but I will enquire as I ride there anyway :)

Try 01458 270099, that used to be the yard number, failing that if you ring Somerton Court Hotel they might be able to help further as they own the yard itself :) Good luck finding a new yard.

Anyone???

Is feed or hay included in your price? If so, then most people are putting prices up because of the increased production costs of hay and haylage and the poor harvest coupled with increased demand. Beware if you move as you may find you get another increase pretty soon afterwards.

Thanks blakesmum, will try that number :)

Wagstail - no there's no feed or hay included in that. It's complete DIY and not a great standard, I wouldn't mind paying more if the standard would improve but I know there's no chance of that. So I'd rather move a pay a little bit more but actually get value for money.

Wookey would probably be a little far tbh, but thank you for the suggestion :)

Monkeybum - that could be perfect, depending on pricing. Will give them a ring :)

Rgoldenfilly - I called them, they only offer part or full livery and it starts from £55 a week. Bit too much for me unfortunately but might be perfect for you :)
