thanks to horse and hound forum have now got our ex racehorse to stop snatching and leaping off when showjumping by using a market harborough he is soft works in a lovely outline and is so much happier in himself its unreal
in fact he is so happy we now cant stop him!
he is great in the warm up listens to us and half halts etc when asked but get him in the ring his face lights up and if its single phase by fence 9 hes gone!
we have schooled him for hours and had lessons and he is perfect and well behaved doesnt put a hoof wrong anyone got any ideas dont want to upset him as he loves his jumping so much but would really like to be able to just take a pull at some stage to get him back without haveing muscles like popeye

I have just started using a market harborough on my Irish Draught x mare.
Having had excellent results using one on a Thoroughbred mare I had some years ago, I thought it would do the trick with her.
In just 3 days the lightness is amazing:D
She is also very happy in herself and really enjoying her work.
Of course your own hands make a difference with the training and they are best used by a competant rider of course.
Another vote for the market harborough.
Its the only gadget I use and IMO so much better than draw reins, side reins, dont use these anyhow.:p
