In March my usually very injury free horse went xc schooling 10 days before our first BE of the season. Next day his Fetlock was swollen on the front leg. Called the vet who said it was just a minor strain, rest him a couple of days but should be fine to run.
I rested him but there was not enough improvement so i withdrew him. the swelling slowly went down with gentle exercise but occasionally came up again. I called the vet who couldn't find anything wrong and told me to carry on.
Entered him for another BE and agin just before the leg really blew up again, so, i withdrew again and rested him. the leg did not heall though.
In may it still wasn't better so i had it scanned and x-rayed. the vet said other than bruising the scans / x-rays were clear, so keep him stabled to stop him running around the field but walk him out everyday for 4 weeks and he should be fine.
i tried thisfor 4 weeks but the leg was swelling worse so i spoke to my vet and we decided to turn him out with a quiet horse. the swelling has now mostly gone down but not 100%. The vet says its just scare tissue but im concerned incase there is more to it.
He is not lame and has never been lame just this swelling. Would anyone else be concerned??????
the vet has told me to bring him back into wrk slowly but i worried incase it isn't healed.
Any input would be greatly received x
