Help on the best hoof boots.

I used Easy Boot Epics on mine but it does sort of come down to your horses hoof shape as to which may be suitable have you spoken to your trimmer?

As maccachic says it does depend on the shape of your horses foot but some are more forgiving than others. I use the equine fusions which I really love because they are so flexible and very forgiving on hoof shape. They are like a trainer and my girl walked out as if she was born in them from day one. I have never had any issues with slipping or coming off despite using them over every terrain and in every speed. I live on Dartmoor so it can get quite boggy, be quite flinty and its generally quite a challenging terrain.

I managed to get mine second hand for fifty quid but Id pay for price for them definitely. I know bitlessandbarefoot.com do a trial but they also have a bargain basement where she sells off the pairs that she has been been using in the trials. That's where I got mine from and they were worth every penny.

The equine fusion are excellent..

cavallo simples are a good started boot, easy to fit and quite forgiving on sizes, there are often pairs for sale on ebay, which you could probably sell on without any loss.

My friend has cavallos and tried them on fit perfect on the fronts but too wide on the hinds. I am quite lucky and can get cavallos, old macs, easy boot and boa trade price. But i am a bit rubbish with hoof boots! Also do any of you use a riders rasp? I can get them too.

Keep looking on eBay and get some second hand. I bought cavallos for 55 and they were brand new, I sold them (they rubbed her pasterns) for 60. I then bought easyboot epics in a derby house sale. I've actually only used them a couple of times as she doesn't need boots at all now and is doing endurance successfully bare :). Do you really need hind boots?

Mine has round feet so cavallo simples fit well. They are also cheap and easy to put on. They have withstood a year of of abuse so great value. With pads they enabled me to start working my girl much sooner than I would have been able to otherwise and she was very comfortable in them. They have never rubbed and I don't used a gaiter with them. I've used them on all kinds of surfaces too.
