We started giving our pony global herbs super calm on sat because he can be spooky and a bit of a handfull at times ( it says on the tub that it may have a "tonic" effect for a few days, then they calm down) and tonight he ran off twice with my daughter on board and is being more naughty than usual ! has this happened to anyone else?. He was on top spec calmer before this and was fine but I thought global herbs might be as good or better!

I work for a supplement company, I don'tunderstand how something can be a "tonic" then a calmer, either its a calmer or it isn't!!! My advice would be to stop it immediately, its obviously causing a reaction which could be very dangerous.

Sorry to hijack your post. Kizzywizz maybe you could help me have emailed various companies re supplements as after some advice for my horse who was diagnosed with pedal Osteitis, wonder if you could pm me if you have any advice re best sort of supplement i could feed her. thanks

Sorry to hear that. I don't know about the global herbs but I gave my 18hh horse some of the Nettex Nice n easy calmer and it made him a bit nuts too! When I stopped giving him the calmer he was back to normal so decided not to try again. He is spooky as well so instead, I upped his work and made sure he worked quite hard 5-6 days a week. Now he is a lot less spooky and I'm happier about riding him. It maybe something to do with a sudden change that unbalances the body's natural chemical/metabolism? Who knows.

Can you give your pony more work even if its lunging as this may be the best calming effect of all.

He was really chilled today so prehaps it's working now or might be because it was sooooo hot! He gets worked practically every day (two pony mad girls who share him)it was just to take the edge off his spooking,Ill give it a bit more time to work I think

If you want to PM me sueandtoto I can give you the details of our range, I use our calmer on my VERY spooky black mare, she's miles better with it than without, still don't see how something can be a tonic then a calmer, we sell both but defo not as one product!!!
