Help - Perfect 4yr old has turned into 5yr old from hell!!!!!!!!

Naughty Dustry! If its any consolation, my 18 year old sensible boy is acting like a 5 year old lunatic. Is spooking at everything, hacks out with head up, tail up,snorting and jogging along like a racehorse. He even took off with me a week or so ago and dumped me - this was on the busy road which adjoins our yard as well.

From reading all the reports, I just feel its a combination of the good weather, lots of spring grass and general joi de vivre they all see to be feeling at the moment.

However, am still feeling a bit sore, so have armed myself with pelham and double reins, stuck my martingale attachment on his breastplate and have dug out my spurs........

Good luck, and I suspect he will grow up a bit pretty soon.

Well having just read your first post & then your last one it seems he has had a think about things & decided it's just to much energy to be that naughty!!!! LOL :D

P.S Adore the cat on your facebook page, he/she is stunning, :D

My mare, who is out on loan has been an utter fruitloop over the past few weeks and, my daughters gelding, who is usually such a calm boy has been spooky and generally full of it. We have put it down to the grass.

CS has been a absolute nob recently....not to ride, he's still lovely once my ass is in the saddle, but he is constantly farting round field, prancing like an ayrab or going like the clappers, impossible to catch as he runs at you rearing and squealing then lunges away and goes off flat out.......iv only been able to get him in/out by having his nose in a bucket of grub and a long lunge line.

he snuck up on nik in the field (putting toby's muzzle on) and knee'd her up the bum then swung round and galloped off, and yesterday was literally hearding my dad up whilst he (dad) was trying to dig weeds up. dad said he was being quite intimidating and territorial.

spring fever!!!!

Had a 4 year old last year, sweetest easiest mare to break in, didn't put a foot wrong, this year she has ben a witch, after all physical checks she just had to work through and be very firm on her. She still tries to have a strop when asked for right canter but it is getting better!
