for inhand classes how would I turn myself out when showing Paddy? I know tweed is correct but can't afford to buy another tweed jacket at the moment, so would a navy blue waistcoat, navy with white spots tie, black trousers and a white shirt be ok? Or would a canary shirt look better? And if I need to wear a hat would I be ok with a navy velvet riding hat? I have a navy beagler but some of the velvet on the top and the ribbon has come off

Here are a few pictures of the gorgeous boy:

And also, would I get away with showing him locally with his feathers how they are or would I need to wait till they've grown back a bit more?

I think what you've described sounds fine....either shirt would be ok. Remember to wear brown gloves and carry a show cane if you have them- if not don't worry too much. I wear a navy riding hat for doing local/RC in-hand showing- I don't do enough of it to justify a Beagler.

Good luck.:)

If you're going out locally unaffiliated, wear what you've got. Make the effort to be clean and tidy and don't worry too much about buying new clothes to be technically correct. At that level, most people are just out to have a good day out and enjoy their horses so make the best of the clothes you do have. I don't think you can be penalised for wearing a helmet for in hand - even if you're not riding, it's still safer.
Probably your boy will look smarter once his feathers are grown out some more, but again, you're going out locally to have a good time. You're also being judged on turnout, manners, conformation, movement and so on so the feathers are not the be all and end all. Just get out there and have some fun!

Yellow shirt will make horse's white bits look whiter in comparison I think. But either option shoudl look nice on you. Go with the smarter (non-beagler) hat I think.

Yup, waistcoat will be fine. Preferably a yellow or beige shirt. Hat is not compulsory so long as your hair is tied back neatly out of the way. At local level I wouldn't worry about his feathers, if you wanted to go out county level then wait for them to grow back a wee bit.
