Ned came in on Saturday a bit lame, box rest until Tuesday morning. He went out sound on Tuesday and he went for a very short quiet hack yesterday, he was sound when he came back.

Had call from my friend today to say ned is lame. Sure enough, he is

Now, he lives in OR boots and they have rubbed his heels a bit (a bit of hair missing, no swelling, cut, broken skin ect). Friend says boot rubs are causing lameness. I have pressed on his heals, and there is no reaction. Just ned looking at me like "why are you trying to inbed your thumbs in my heels???"

There is no other obvious cut, heat, swelling, injury to see.

My old horse has never been lame a day in the 11 years I have owned him and I'm seriously panicing.

Could his OR boots be causing this??? Any other ideas??

Humbugs if you got this far!!

Sounds unlikely to me..... especially if you can press the areas with no reaction.

Is it possible that he is starting an abcess..... maybe get farrier to have a poke around tomorrow......???

Or failing that, hot tub and poultice the lame foot. Unless he is hopping and then suppose the vet is the obvious choice

I thought OR boots weren't likely either.

He isn't hoping, he forgets he is lame every now and again and still bounced around on the way up from the field today.

My wimpy horse went lame last year from overeach rubs.I cant use rubber ones especially in the school if sand gets inside he was only lame when they were on so you could check him with or without boots.
