Hi all, hoping you can help me.

My mare is lame and we suspect navicular :( I'm going to get the vet in to do a lameness workup and xrays but I wanted to check the quote I had been given. I know this will vary depending on how many nerve blocks are needed etc but it would be good to know a ballpark figure.

I want the vet to come out ot me as I have no transport and hiring a box is expensive, and my mare doesnt load easily and would get stressed and / or refuse to go in.

I've been given a quote of around £800 to include 3 x nerve block, x rays and 12 plates, sedation, time and callout etc.

I have no idea how this compares to other vets??

I am in Surrey if this helps and at the far edge of the vets callout area.

Thanks for your help :)

Sounds like not a bad quote there- When mine have had lameness investigated in the past and their initial workups (at home) have been around that figure, but with slightly less xray plates (prob about 4 less) but loads of nerve blocks!- and that included ridden assessments and scanning as well.
