During the summer my boy is out at night and brought in during the day, to avoid flies etc (and to make it easier for me!) The trouble is that I have noticed he won't pee in the stable - and as he can be in from 7am to 5pm that can't be very comfortable for him!

He was stabled at night over the winter and everything was normal - since then he has moved down the row of stables, but his new stable is still the same size etc. I have tried more bedding, less bedding etc (he has rubber matting too) but no success - he is on his own during the day, but can see other horses out of his window in the field just below him. He doesn't sweat up, call to the others or get stressed in any way during the day - any ideas please?!

He obviously knew I had posted this - went down to turn him out tonight and he had peed in the stable

- a relief for him and me I guess

It might have been the scent of the previous horse that was putting him off as it would smell like another horse's territory. Now he's been in their a little while it smells like 'home'.

I've got the other side of the problem, he won't pee in his field and seems to wait all day to go! He's currently out 24/7 so he's got no choice but still loves to wee in his house! Bless 'em they do keep us guessing!
