Hi guys, wanted a bit of advice.

My 14 year old mare has arthritus in the knees, she generally gets pretty stiff if in the stable for too long. Due to the snowy weather she was unable to go out yesterday. Turned her out in the school for a leg stretch where she trotted around a little but didnt go mad. Anyway, yesterday evening I noticed she only slightly short in her left leg. I put it down to stiffness because she was in (was happy in herself, wasnt uncomfortable) Today worker turned her out and she was fine- she trotted around a little then I got a phonecall saying she was lame in her front left (tender around the fetlock area) wasnt swollen and didnt have any heat. Apparently she's bearing weight on it but is obviously lame (in walk)

Im thinking she may have twisted something or agrivated the arthritus by trotting on hard surface. She is on a joint suppliment, has special shoes on and boots on over night. Generally the arthritus never affects her, I havent seen her as yet, but I am slightly worried.

Anyone experienced this before with their arthritic horses?

thanx for your text kassie my favorite niece:D.

have you thought about magnetic boots *Maddy&Occhi*
my mare is on box rest and has arthritis in her off fore knee it clicks as she lifts it.
I bought her harpley knee boots and they seem to help,

as my niece said my mare is also on flexi joint and its given my mare a 360 turn around

I leave them on her almost full time on box rest but you can put them on at night to keep the knee warm as cold weather aggravates this problem
